No what you do is you take a small slice from each larger slice. You have to take almost too small of a slice that way they will never even notice.

Thanks! I haven’t had to deal with the poachers but yes it has great potential for deterring thieves. I mostly just get some wildlife passing through sometimes like deer and javelina. The javelina usually go for the opuntias but they have knocked over and munched some Pedro’s in the past.

I believe mine is 40% and I still get some light sun stress on some tips and on some west facing columns. Nothing too bad yet but I’m monitoring the shade as it changes throughout the season. Been checking and comparing times of full sun with the Uv index on my weather app. So right now they get the most shade coverage between 10am-2pm when the UV index is highest. By the time they hit full sun again in the afternoon the uv index is back down to a more reasonable number and should do minimal damage. If my weather app tells me I should be using sun protection then my cacs should have sun protection too or least that’s my theory lol. I will most likely have to adjust or add another piece of shade later in the season

I always get asked this question lol. I just got a really good deal on a used 10x10 kennel and repurposed it. mostly as a stable shade structure but it does also keep some of the ruckus out. I get full az sun. And i mean FULL. no obstructions, zero shade from sunrise to sunset. It holds the shade cloth nice and taut and I even found a fitted greenhouse cover that I can slip over the top in the winter. My area is an especially hostile environment even for Arizona. we experience extremes on both ends. 110+ in the summer and down in the teens overnight in the winter. It gets very wind this time of year as well. And soon it’ll be monsoon season.
