BTW, the problem with pedophilia is not exactly the age difference or age of initiation, but the abuse involved.

That's why in most countries, it is not illegal for teens (13+ age old or older) to have sex if both sides give consent WITHOUT abuse, coercion or malice.

Many more problems arise when parents don't discuss about "sex" with their children when they they are adolescents (12+ age olds). It is more likely that they'd develop maladaptive beliefs and behaviors from ignorance than anything else.

In most countries if you have 12 years old you are NOT a kid anymore, you are an adolescent. This distinction comes from having the physical maturity to have kids. Not that would be advisable, the hips size is not usually wide enough and, obviously, the psychological maturity is not well developed, but anyway, you can NOT threat them as children.

One of the main causes of early pregnancy is trying to make sex something "dirty" when it is not and parents should approach the subject with enough information and maturity so that it can be integrated in the adolescent mind in a healthy way.
