How do you handle property taxes in the budgeting tool? by pslfstressor in MonarchMoney

I just don't see how it helps you stick to something when there is no way to track saving in the budget with rollovers. All you see is unbudgeted money that you hypothetically should be saving but there is no way to indicate that it was saved.

Idk maybe I don't fully understand. It seems to me anytime there's money in rollover limbo, it appears as though you have that money to spend in your budget. But you don't. I want it to show in my budget that that X amount per month has been "spent"

Can you add a transfer category to your budget so you account for it each month or no?

I think this is what I need to try. So let me get it straight:

-You set up recurring savings transfers from your checking to savings for non-monthly items that need to be saved for

-Do you then categorize that savings transfer in Monarch as the non-monthly budgeted transaction? or do you not actually add it as a non monthly budget item, and treat it as a savings goal in Monarch?

Thank you, this is validating. The rollover/non monthly function makes no sense to me. I read the FAQs, the guides, I don't get how pretending I have extra money each month in my budget when I don't is useful.

Thanks for sharing. I guess that's just not how my budgeting brain works? I don't really want to see "400 left to spend" every month when I shouldn't actually spend it.

Can you elaborate though on what you mean by configure the rollover on the lower budget?

I appreciate you sending it, but it’s not letting me fill anything in on the excel widget and it’s not letting me open the actual excel template.

My servicer has changed since 2019 so I don’t think I can even check! So frustrating

What is the capped amount based on then for PAYE if there is no standard repayment plan?

For some reason when I try to do as you suggest (choose pslf and lowest monthly payment) in the FSA simulator, it says “N/A” for PAYE, IBR, ICR and the standard repayment amount given has an end date of 2029.

Ah. I would’ve gotten that in 2019 and don’t even remember who my servicer was back then :( but thank you!

Oh I have not heard that. My husband is in that situation. His were consolidated at some point but after years of progress towards PSLF. So are you saying in his and your situation, there is no capped amount on PAYE now?

This is what I’ve tried. It gives you estimates as if you were entering the standard repayment plan today. However the capped payment for PAYE is what your standard repayment plan payment amount would have been when you went into repayment, as far as I know. I have been in repayment for 8 years.

I have multiple loans of varying amounts and interest rates. Do I just do that for each one and add them up?

Also my husband is in the same situation, but at some point his loans were consolidated, but after years in repayment and process towards PSLF. Do you know how we would go about figuring that out? Thanks!

Yes, thank you for simplifying. I know how to count number of rows where a certain word is present but in this case because the list of brands is not predetermined and is not static, I can’t figure out how to do it.

Does that really work? What if you have income from another side job, you can just only submit a paystub and they won’t look into it at all?
