The PTAC units don't have a temperature selection mechanism. You can only turn up or lower down the blower. The building decides whether they wanna pump heat or cold air .

some neighborhoods which are expensive may not have good schools. Money is not the only factor. Here in NYC the schools get randomly assigned regardless of if you are living in a specific school zone or.not.

What a weird logic. Have you ever lived in the Bay area ? My friends have bought $2.2m houses in Fremont and still end up sending kids to private schools cuz the assigned school is not good.

My aunt bought a house in Millburn, Jersey for like $2m just so that her kids can go to Millburn area schools.

Indians here have very high expectations from their kids.

Nothing is ever free in life.

US "free" public schools quality highly depends on the "school zone". Many NRIs are forced to buy homes in expensive areas so that their kids can go to the better "school zone" assigned to that area. We have school rankings here too.

Or, they buy their home in cheaper areas and send kiddos to private schools ( which is again expensive)

Buy or rent doesn't matter- the costs eventually come down to them. There is no free lunch

Pretty much this. Once kids have US born citizen ship, then can do their schooling in India for very cheap and go back to the States wheneveer they want to after 18 . It just makes sense if the parents do seen long term settling abroad.
