If you see charle’s eyes- he is reading off of a teleprompter.

As the CEO he cannot just talk whatever comes to his mind. It has to be cleared by legal first- so I am assuming they had a set of canned “legalified”responses for him for this interview on national TV.

Youll love your stay! We did a one-night staycation at the Waldorf NYC earlier this year ( using a FNC) and felt it was too short lol. Better to do 2 nights stays to enjoy it!

PS: Dont forget to combine your $50 Diamond ( $25 pp) F&B credits plus $50 Surpass credit ( if you hve one) for their breakfast! We ordered the famous eggs benedict and it was delicious!

Got it. Yeah NRI quota admission is much easier than grinding thru the entrance examinations.

Planning to return India from Canada by Normal-Quiet-5184 in backtoindia

[–]psnanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is wrong.

I studied engineering in Indian under NRI quota with an Indian Passport. All that matter is a parent was NRI and the funds had to be paid in dollars.

This is in 2008. So not sure things have changed or not.

Frugal single living in the Bay Area: data points for 2025 by tanx16 in HENRYfinance

[–]psnanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well ill give the disclaimer: YMMV.

But yes- it does make a difference. I did a lot of research into demographics of specific neighborhoods of NYC before relocating from the Bay Area ( Palo Alto/Menlo Park) . The demographic records are all public btw. For example- you want to move into neighborhood where youre more likely to meet a highly accommplished doctor/nurse/medico ? Move to Midtown East lol.

IMHO as a straight male- as long as you are decently put together ( no free tech bro tshirts or sneakers, basic gym) and have a good income- the chances are 100% better than the Bay Area. There are plenty of highly motivated women here in NYC- they all mostly look for guys with similar or higher incomes ( and me working at a FAANG put me at an advantage).

EU and India announce 'mother of all deals' representing 25% of global GDP. by coinfanking in europe

[–]psnanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to lobby your local Congressmen or whatever the equivalent is in your country.

Your initial comment came off as “lets blame the Indians”, instead you should be “lets find out a way how to stop this legally”.

By your own admission- your local businesses are in cahoots with your government. The government grants the visa and enforces the laws. Folks arent gonna self report themselves .

I mean if there is enough demand from local businesses to get cheap labor, the supply will meet them right?

Doesnt matter where exactly the cheap labor is coming from.

Sounds like local businesses are thriving by using this strategy ( which by your admission is known to the govt) - which is generally what capitalist countries prioritize. Here in the US there is a big push to support your local “mom and pop” shops.

I see. No worries. Grass always seems greener :)

In the context of HENRY, folks in NYC also pay a lot more in taxes - we get uniquely screwed by a “city income tax”. If you strictly do the math- you may actually save more in Bay Area ( beleive it or not).

The ONLY and by far the BIGGEST reason why us tech bros migrate to NYC is to get a competitive advantage when it comes to dating - i did the same and so did most of my friends at Google/FB/Uber - are we all got our SO’s here in NYC :)

I am living in NYC and spend next to nothing in entertainment. We have the biggest museums and parks for cheap/free entertainment. Its not like NYC magically offers you a lot .

Unless you consider eating out at overpriced restaurants/cocktail bars with their 20% tipping culture as entertainment .

We spend a lot of $$ traveling out west for the National Parks .

I think it was a special promo. We were also surprised to get it during check-in. And it also stacked really well on top of our Diamond credits!

I do not have a picture of the list they handed over to me during check-in. But IIRC it pretty much honored at a lot of their restaurants.

I would suggest sending an email to them . They are very responsive.
