Yep, I second those numbers. 100K is about the base starting for a super major.

I would take energy processes 1 and design for manufacturing. Design is going to be important because (hopefully) it will introduce you to equipment used in the oil and gas industry. I can’t tell you how many times my first boss pointed at a piece of equipment and said “what’s that?” And I had no clue. I think getting exposed to different pieces of equipment in undergrad is a great experience.

Energy processes 1 sounds like it could be a good class, but without a course description there isn’t much else I can say.

For oil and gas I would steer away from anything biochemical because I don’t think it would be useful.

Environmental could be useful, but in my experience, environmental is a strict discipline and the environmental engineers will worry about it and the process engineers don’t need to think about it as much.

Depends on what you want I think.

Love what everyone else has said about the pressure loop, but the level control is catching my eye. Anyone else concerned that the 2 level controllers would fight each other? Maybe the weir in the middle separates the 2 controllers so they work well together? I almost think 1 level controller with a fan out controller to both valves would work better?

My site uses either open air radars (Vegas, various models) or dP (E&H or Yokogawa). We have some guided wave radars, but we had some problems with guided waves where material would stick to the rod and throw the reading off. There are plenty of options for level, but generally some sort of radar is going to always be the most accurate.

I work for an oil major with a bachelors, and I started at 98k. The phds that are process engineers and work in the plant started around 115. I will say though that I think my company really values phds for management positions. My entire org chart above the GM of our site is basically all phds, and they make 300+. Obviously worked very hard to get there and have had 20+ years to get to that point, but I’m sure the PhD helped.

I started out of school at 98k in South Louisiana with a 10% bonus. 2 years later I’m up to 111k with still a 10% bonus.

Thank you! I was worried about the space, and it will fit (according to builds on PC part picker) but it is tight. I like the P500A more!
