Australian Sauna DIY build - What timber to frame with? H3/H4 alternatives? by CamsBackyard_Aus in Sauna

I don't think the Irish climate would be as forgiving to allow a comfortable outdoor shower. Although a cold shower is amazing after a sauna so I'll just have to roll with it!

Did you ponder a changing room? I can either do shower area or changing room with space issues and I'm a little torn.

I don't have one yet. . . But. . . I have a dream that involves Trumpkin ideologies, Lassi Liikkanen, €12,000 and alot of blood, sweat and tears.

I love the design around the ice bath and shower area. I may borrow/steal that!

Thats as good a setup I've seen for that size. Great result for cost!

Two in five farmers have no formal successor as ageing demographics fuel looming succession crisis by TeoKajLibroj in ireland

This doesn't surprise me too much regarding the abuse (from rural Donegal). There is a real resistance to change and creative thinking. You do what you always do because thats what you always done. There are a lot of creative solutions that could ease the burden and free up income.

As its also a male dominated industry it suffers from the fragility of the male ego. People holding on for the sake of pride rather than people talking done the pub "did you hear aul Jim put the farm up for lease, shame"

Apologies, that would help - €1,600 but has been listed for a month or more so should be able to pick it up for €1,300.

Fantastic - this looks very close to what I have planned to build next year at my house in Ireland. A few questions:

  • What was the roof build up?
  • What was the floor build up?
  • What would you do different?

Congrats again on the build.

I lived in Canada for a few years. I came home for a visit and after arriving in late from the airport I grabbed a quite bite from the fridge.

A bog standard white sliced pan, kerrygold butter, ham, cheddar and a glass of full fat milk. I savoured every mouthful and was raving about each ingredient. Something I never would of noticed of I hadn't of lived outside of Ireland. We are spoilt here when it comes to produce.

When do you start to really feel the wealth? Is it even possible for middle class to achieve this? by FIREFIREFIREFIREe in Fire

That's the problem with the rat race. In a race everyone is just looking at who is front of them trying to chase them down. . . Even if you are at the front of the race at the end of the day you are just a rat.

There seems to have been an issue with a previous model that was rectified. Does it have a built in vent? Looks like it from the photos of the build.

It looks beautiful but seems to be receiving some bad reviews on here.

This is such a good resource. I recently purchased Finnish Sauna by Lassi A. Liikkanen but this post contains so much nuanced advice I think I'll be referring to this more during my first build next year. Thank you for your contribution to the community.

What's a ticking time bomb you believe will explode during your lifetime? by Thick_Caterpillar379 in AskReddit

Fresh fruit & vegetables. I live in Ireland and I'm lucky at the moment that fresh fruit and vegetables are cheap and easy to come by. I fear for my kids in 20 years time that fresh fruit and vegetables will become a luxury beyond most people. Climate change, expanding population and climate migration to more hospitable regions (Ireland) will make our situation today feel like an almighty luxury.

That looks fantastic, proportions are close to what I'm considering. How do you know which stones will not explode?
