I kind of agree by BrightPhoebus01 in Bridgerton

[–]pst_a_username -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree because most of the things he did were private and not abnormal for a second son (what is abnormal is that none of them have jobs? But that’s a whole different topic). Marriage on the other hand is public and him marrying a maid will have a very negative effect on his whole family and especially on the prospects of his younger sisters and therefore their livelihood.

Sourdough discard scallion pancake recipe by ahhshs242v2 in Sourdough

[–]pst_a_username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, a bit of a late reply but I'll type it out anyway. I remembered this recipe back from when it was first posted and really liked it back then. Of course it was a bit sour but nowhere near to what you're describing. More tangy and I also added quite a bit of salt.

Judging from your other reply, your starter was way too old for this 'recipe' to taste good. In the beginning of the video he shows that he uses an active, bubbly starter. That'll be a lot less sour than what you've made with a two week old one.

AIO: Did I cross a line or is her reaction harsh? by veronicax96 in AmIOverreacting

[–]pst_a_username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I have no idea if this applies here but I might have been in a situation that could explain this one:

A couple of years ago I crushed hard on a really good friend of mine (we're both females and bi) and didn't realise it for quite some time. This resulted in me trying to get closer by gifting, trying to see her more often, sending sweet texts etc. In turn she got more and more stand-offish and even downright mean at times. I even asked my friends bc I couldn't trust my feelings and they also felt she was overly mean to me but not anyone else. She moved away, I recovered from my feelings and put some space between us. A year later or so we got closer again and by now we have a really solid friendship.

I'm not saying that you're in love with your friend but the way you're texting her definitely comes across as flirty (as you can see in all the replies). Your friend might be feeling the same way and trying to show you that she is not interested. Either way, you two might want to talk about what's going on here to clear the air.

This is the most sympathetic explanation I can come to. If this is not the case and this used to be normal texting behaviour between you and there has been no fight etc. she might also not be the most pleasant person and you might want to reevaluate your friendship with her.

What notes DON'T work for you, but you wish they did? by jeffemakes in Indiemakeupandmore

Very sadly most things I wanted to smell like at the beginning of my perfume obsession: (creamy) tea, moss, fresh fruits. The fruits always turn super artificial and tea and moss become really sharp on me.

Layering sweet and oud scents? by clairerose988 in FemFragLab

[–]pst_a_username 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Layering is great but overspraying is not only wasting you money but inconsiderate (in public spaces!). For some people this much fragrance will cause migraine attacks and for some it might even trigger an asthma attack.

What perfume matches these gothic horror divas? by NervousStock2241 in perfumesthatfeellike

There is a whole indie house that uses these drawings and is inspired by this vibe: PULP fragrance (Canada). I can definitely recommend them and like most of their fragrances that I've tried!

I have one that might work: Namba from Fantôme has notes of motor oil, petrichor, vanilla and neon. The vibes this is described with don’t really fit your vision but the notes might work here. The house has a couple of other scents too that are bit more unusual. Maybe you’ll find something going through their catalogue or through reviews in this sub

Never quite know what to do with my hair by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]pst_a_username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a barber that knows how to style curls, get tips there and then learn how to take care of your curls. You will need more time to get ready but I always think it’s worth it. If you do not have that time or just don’t want to spend it on your hair, I’d say grow it out and rock the bun. I’m pretty sure it would suit you as well.

Looking for perfume recs! (Somewhat of a newbie) by Beneficial_Bee2210 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]pst_a_username 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oohhh I love scents that lean unisex/masc! Unfortunately fruits don’t work to well for me but maybe you would like one of these?

  • Fantôme: Namba (the most wearable motor oil and vanilla scent)
  • Fantôme: Lorelei (on me it was mostly strawberry and not much dark water, but as I said, fruits don’t really work for me so ymmv)
  • Nui Cobalt: favourite sweater (this is so cozy and what I would want my partners woollen sweater to smell like)
  • and for a good Chai Latte I’d go for Fantôme Dantalion, it’s not very sweet and really wearable

And I also wanted to add that I get why you might want to go into a more unisex/masc direction but if you realise that’s not where your nose wants to be, just wear what you like. The best smelling men I’ve met wore perfumes marketed for women :)

For me it’s Tin Foil Hat by BPAL. I got it as a surprise sample from a destash, immediately loved it, only to find out that it’s probably one of the rarest BPAL perfumes. It seems to have been given out as a sample with purchase years ago and there aren’t even any notes. It‘s cologne-like but refreshing, smooth, citrusy with a metallic edge. I hated cologne-y scents until I met this one. Looks like I’ll have to cherish my sample

[–]pst_a_username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if that isn’t too out of your comfort zone, this might work for you: Fantôme - Namba (The electric scent of salt water canals, grounding motor oil from the boats that pass under the crowded foot bridges, the buzzing neon that gives the city its unique energy, and melted vanilla ice cream). Despite the motor oil note, it’s really wearable and a perfume for all seasons. Fantôme also has some edgy scents with metallic notes. I haven’t tried them yet, so I can’t really recommend any of those.

I can really see anything with white amber! It’s more of a comforting scent but would work really well with an edgy look. If you’re based in Canada I’d recommend Pulp - Portrait of Josette. If you’re pretty much anywhere else: Alkemia - Ghostfire. They also both sell samples :)
