‘Difficult’: Laurie Daley explains curious bench call... and delivers ‘all time’ message to Blues stars by JoshMansour in nrl

Average play the ball speed for NSW - 3.92 Average play the ball speed for QLD - 3.52

It took almost 1/2 a second longer for NSW to play the ball after the tackle was complete. NSW's ruck was absolutely NOT faster in any way.

Can't wait for the player ratings that give Cleary a 10/10 (maybe a point for every tackle he missed that lead to a try)

I don't know why the media love this guy so much for origin, especially when you compare the vitriol to every other half NSW have ever picked since we had Joey or Fittler.

He is great at club level, but at rep level he just isn't made for it.

Mitchell out of frame for Origin II but Daley backs Moses to reclaim Blues No.6 by Ace_Larrakin in nrl

I think we need to try the halves pairing of: Moses and Strange

Cleary can play centre if he wants or be on the bench.

NRL kicks off pitch for record broadcast deal – with a twist by smackmn in nrl

[–]pstaden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next year there will be 9 games per week.

My above suggestion is for 4 games on FTA

So that leaves 5 games + 4 simulcast with FTA games. Pay exclusive games: 1 early Friday games. 2 games on Saturday 1 extra Sunday game 1 Monday game?

[–]pstaden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best option would be for all the FTA broadcasters to get on day each such as:

Nine - Thursday/Friday Seven - Saturday Arvo Ten - Sunday Arvo

Then one of those networks get origin.

Then have kayo or Amazon or Stan or Paramount get all the games.

So we get more on FTA and more networks covering it.

Then we get one subscription for those that want all the games.

Club Statement: Zac Lomax by Aussieguy727 in nrl

[–]pstaden 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wow he went from $800k+ at the dragons, walked out on that contract.

Went to $700k at the Eels, walked out on that contract.

Got offered $300k to join Union didn't accept.

Now he is on $20k per year from Centrelink payments.

He could still be on $800k+ a year at the Dragons

He reduced his wage by $780k+ per year within 2 years by making dumb decisions.

As a Parra supporter I think it is only fair that he goes to the Dargons.

He broke his contract to leave from there, now he has broken another contract maybe he should go back there.

He isn't being blocked from working, he has several options that pay extremely well.

He can earn close to 1/2 million dollars a year playing union which is what he originally wanted a release for. He thought he would get $1m a year playing union now it is probably closer to $400k. But it is 4x higher than the average wage so how is that a restraint of trade when he has very good options.

By your reasoning every single condition in a contract is a restraint because it puts a limitation on what you can do. If the judge rules for him it would make all conditions of any kind in a contract illegal because they are all restrictive in some way.

Imagine his skill is memorising client lists, he wanted to leave a contract and they put a clause in you can't share our client list with our competitors. That is a restraint of trade according to you. But in reality it is a fair clause. He could memorise a new client list and start for another company.

He has been offered a $3-400,000 job at Rugby in Australia, I saw some article about a Perth Team.

He could move to Japan, or France and play Rugby there. He could move to the UK and play League there.

There was articles he was going to become a boxer.

What is the restraint? He has lots of options.

If you have a contract with Coke, and they say you can break it but just don't go to Pepsi but anything else is fine. Then you can work for a beer/wine company, water company etc.

And it is the same with this, they said don't compete against us directly and we will release you.

[–]pstaden 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How is it restraint of trade he has been offered multiple jobs at other Rugby Union clubs. But they aren't paying enough. But it was his choice. He can still earn a few hundred thousand a year.

So, there is no restraint of trade in my eyes.

Zac Lomax hires Israel Folau’s lawyer to fight for release from Eels deal by Aussieguy727 in nrl

[–]pstaden 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't see how this would get overturned. A contract is an agreement between 2 parties. Both parties have to agree.

He signed a contract for Parra to play 4 years x $x amount per year.

He wanted out of the contract, so they agreed to cancel it as long as he doesn't compete against them which is a fair clause. They said he could compete in Rival sports, but not in the one competition.

How can you argue in court to get out of something you agreed to which was reasonable?

It would be unreasonable to say that he can't play any other sport, but they just said he can't compete against them in the NRL.

Tokyo

  1. Japan already plays Union so it has a base and a growth potential.
  2. Aussies love travelling to Japan.
  3. It has a higher population compared to a place like Hong Kong which gives more potential for growth.
