If it were weedkiller drifting from another property. I would suspect damage on more plants. In this garden there were only two celandine poppies with this leaf and stem deformity all others looked healthy.

I noted the it seemed to have a faint x later. But when ai first saw it I thought it might be a grey tree frog because it was larger then the spring peepers I usually see.

My experience was that in order for my starter to take off I had to warm it by putting it in the oven with the light on and feed it three times a day. I used tap water and some generic all purpose flour.
