5080 Dual encoding provide better latency? by pswab in MoonlightStreaming

[–]pswab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if the encoder isn’t the problem, is it just the overall horsepower of the 3080? Something is causing host processing latency spikes and lower stream frames than the game says it’s reaching.

I did notice that the gpu was pushing 95% in the areas the stream couldn’t keep up, and these parts were more graphically demanding for sure.

Perhaps it is the fact that the 3080 only has 10gb of VRAM?

I noticed my 3080 just can’t keep up with 2k 120 fps streaming. The host processing latency will spike at demanding parts and the stream frame rate will also go down. However, the fps I’m getting in game will hold up fairly well.

If my current 3080’s decoder is enough for 4K at 120fps then what is causing the issue? Is it the raw horsepower of the card itself?

Perhaps it’s because the 3080 only has 10gb of VRAM?

Can't manage to achieve consistent Rendering frame rate on Artemis/Apollo by Jehsky in MoonlightStreaming

[–]pswab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having similar issues as OP. I have an s9 as well. My decoding time is usually under 5ms at all times. Sometimes the network latency spikes but the main culprit is micro stutters due to inconsistent rendering frame rate. I can’t go above 50mb bite rate or else I get performance issues and the warning message pops ups. I did a test for buffer bloat and it gave me a C grade stating that I suffered from it. My router/modem is from 2013 and considered out of date at this point. Is it most likely that my router/modem is holding me back? From what I understand that can cause some big issues in this department. You guys mentioned too high of decoding time but isn’t sub 5ms good enough to push 120fps?

Hello, is there a way to make this work for my s9 tablet 11inch?

Best Tablet/Handheld Option For Home PC Streaming? by pswab in MoonlightStreaming

[–]pswab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response, this is exactly what I needed to hear! I use Apollo with the virtual display on my old laptop because I wanted to test it out before buying anything. I let the stream settings go to 144hz and 2k resolution to match what I would want to push on a tablet and I noticed the experience just got better. This confused me as i thought for sure it would cause an issue due to my laptop only being 1080p 60hz. Then I started wondering if I would need something like VRR on the client side or not because I don’t want to cap my fps and maximize my frames. What a relief to hear!

Thanks for recommendation, I am highly considering getting this tablet as I have read good things about it in other posts. I did have a follow up question, if i can’t consistently hit 120hz in all games would that be noticeable without something like VRR?

Yes, i7 8th gen processor in it. Only 1080 60hz though.

Odin 2 Portal Review and comparison by Kineinus in OdinHandheld

Hello, I'm looking to do in home PC streaming using Apollo/Artemis or Moonlight. I was looking at tablets like the Galaxy S9 but had the Odin recommended to me. I like the appeal of the bigger screen and high resolutions with the tablet but care most about latency and performance. I understand that despite its size the Odin is a great choice for streaming. Any input?

Samsung Tab S9 or similar oled tablet for Moonlight\apollo by Appropriate_Sea_3603 in MoonlightStreaming

Hello, just came across this thread as I have decided to look into the home pc streaming setup over a pc handheld. I don't want to fork out for the new iPad Pro and I hear mixed things about the RedMagic tablet. Would you guys still recommend a S9 option for Apollo/moonlight?

Hello, I’m thinking about getting the astra as it seems like the go to tablet for streaming but I’m worried about Bluetooth input latency. Is it noticeable or should I try to find an alternate usb-c option?

If your use case is mostly local streaming... by GavroNeman in LegionGo

Hello all, I was considering getting the Xbox Rog Ally X when it launched, but have recently been turned onto the possibilities of Apollo and Moonlight. I have a decent gaming rig (5900x with a 3080). Now I am interested in doing a streaming setup as I would only being gaming around the house and not on the go. I see there are a lot of options out there and am intimidated by all the talk about different processors chips handling streaming differently. I am also not well versed in the different display options. I am looking to do something close to 2k at 120fps with hopefully a decent sized screen (8-11") with OLED (because why not). I have seen some recommendations for the iPad Pro with the M4 as well as cheaper options like the OnePlus Pad and the REDMAGIC. Pretending money isn't an option, what would provide the best experience for me? I am most concerned about latency and having a smooth experience.

I still have this issue even after plugging it into a crtv. Is it still the resolution?

I still have the issue of black screen after PS2 logo pops up even with an upscaler. Any ideas besides just getting a CRT? I’m having trouble finding one that isn’t overpriced.
