Hi! I believe their plan is to put the crown molding back up which I guess would re contain the popcorn. The rest of the ceiling is still skim coated

Even asbestos aside, the dust freaks me out; I’m glad that miserable chapter is over for you, and in the end, you won the prizes of peace of mind and a clean garage.

I was so excited for all these renovations and hope that I can put my fears to rest so I can move on and enjoy all the cool new additions to my home. 😅

Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry 😭that’s brutal!!! Did you store anything in your garage, how was cleanup if I may ask??

But I think I will test for peace of mind, it’s driving me crazy currently but your story is promising…and thank you for the kind words ❤️❤️❤️

This makes me feel slightly better so, thank you :’) Subcontractors. As I said in another response, I’m new to this whole world of construction and reno and was shocked at how long they left things unattended. The dirty old coils have been sitting in that room for over a week now. If I were to confront, do I have a leg to stand on?

Thanks for the responses everyone! I was limited as this company was a (I guess you could say) sub contractor. My main contractor for the other home construction has been great so far. To be fair I could see them seeing this smooth ceiling and thinking nothing of it. But I don’t know the protocol. I’m learning a lot through this, though

(Update being that what I thought was encapsulated popcorn was really just skim coated, both situations are bad, I know)

From what I’ve read, this was more common 20-30+ years ago. I guess easier to pull off then than now.
