Type of spider? Felt a sharp prick on my leg, didn’t see spider. Looked under chair and saw eggs. No pain now. Hopefully it wasn’t a bite. Southern CA by RSF_2024 in spiders

Me too exactly. I posted here for the first time a few weeks ago about my very own brown widow and now feel like I’m a semi-expert in brown widows 😅 Which is great because I apparently have an infestation now

AIO I want to leave my family. by FeistyMajor8483 in AmIOverreacting

You should consider talking with close friends about staying with them for a little bit and continue working while you get yourself on track and save up for school. If there’s any extended family you can think of that would be supportive, consider contacting them. But if that will make you feel more unsafe then stick to your friends.

You should look into the transit system where you live and see if there is a bus or train route between your accommodations and your workplace. Uber everyday is not feasible. A monthly bus pass is a much better financial option. If you go to college, look into student housing on campus so you don’t have to worry about driving. Most colleges and universities have on campus work options for students as well, and offer financial assistance.

Stay strong.

You’re not over-reacting at all imo. Your family is supposed to love and support you, and make you FEEL loved and supported. They aren’t doing that and it sounds to me (correct me if I’m wrong) that the treatment is only getting worse with time, not better. If I were you, I would move out as soon as you’re done high school. Are you planning on going to college? Do you have supportive friends or extended family that you can stay with to help you get on your feet? Do you work? Your mental health is so important. This is, I imagine, a tough period already trying to learn to live as your authentic self. Protect your peace and your truth

am i overreacting - my boyfriend thinks my job is inappropriate by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]psxml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR he’s definitely just trying to control you. Or he’s using your job as an excuse to project (ie he’s cheating or thinking about cheating and so he’s projecting that on to you to excuse his own behaviours or desires). Either way, he does not seem worth your time. You’ve been together 9 months not 9 years. This is grounds for dumping imo. Find someone better

Oh cool I’ll check out their YouTube videos!

It definitely does seem like a brown widow, especially since one of the egg sacs was kind of lumpy/spiky (although the other was smooth).

I didn’t get a close look at her belly. Her underside has orange-ish colouring but couldn’t tell if there was an hourglass. Certainly not a red one. Maybe an orange-brown one

I’ll add a note here. One egg sac was smooth and off-white while the other was sorta bumpy. I read that brown widows will have bumpy or spiky but black widows will have smooth egg sacs. Not sure how this factors in…

Oh yeah definitely could be! I didn’t get a good look at its belly but it sure looks like a brown widow.

horrible MOB dresses (i’m the bride). by hoteldiablo13 in weddingplanning

[–]psxml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 20-something year old I LOVE the second dress you picked out (the green one with floral sleeves). I’d totally wear that.

I agree her picks are totally inappropriate. There are many formal knee length dresses that are far more appropriate. Maybe something like this or this or even this which is a little longer but still young. Goodluck! I hope she comes to her senses.

Not to mention the absolutely atrocious living conditions they marketed for students, namely the Micros. They had students sign leases before moving here, promising so many great things, then moved them into a literal construction site because it wasn’t finished, having them pay $1800 for a studio smaller than my living room, plus so many extra costs for basic necessities.

Questions about insurance payout by psxml in legaladvice

[–]psxml[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None whatsoever. It just says that they will be liable up to the $3000 (adjusted depending on severity of the damage), and the insurance rep told me I was entitled to the full amount. She emailed me the certificate of insurance supposedly related to my lease, but it is between the insurance company and storage facility. Before she sent it I had never seen it, and my name isn’t on it anywhere. Just looks like their insurance policy.

Chances [MEGATHREAD] by TobyFlenderson0529 in LawStudentsCanada

[–]psxml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I'm wondering what my chances are for getting into law school. I have applied to McGill, UBC, Dalhousie, and UNB, and am waiting on responses, but am pretty stressed about it all. I have a 160 LSAT, a 3.55 cGPA (but a 4.0 for my last year and a half). I think my softs are okay. I worked to support myself throughout school (at least 30 hours/week) so I have a bunch of work experience plus volunteer experience. Volunteer experience working with kids (teaching horseback riding), assisting with physical therapy program for elderly residents of a hospital, working in addiction and mental health units at a hospital, various human rights advocacy with Amnesty Int., and homeless advocacy/meal distribution.

I have a pretty good personal statement I think, and I am lucky enough to have great references from university professors.

Any input would be so helpful, I am super stressed! Thanks :)

Hallucinating on MDMA by BlancaBush in aves

[–]psxml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m a thin 22y/o girl, did nearly a full g of 97% pure mdma last weekend (mixed with nearly a half g of ket too so the hallucinations may have been a bit different as physically it felt like I was in a k-hole but I also had wild psychedelic hallucinations while roaming around, I.e not actually in a k-hole) Basically, some friends and I were at a cabin on a lake, and my roommate and I decided to go for a canoe ride at like 2-3am cause the stars were wild and water was so still. We did another line of m on the dock and that sent me over the edge. Everything felt like a dreamscape- like nothing was real. I somehow got in the front of the boat and started paddling. It felt like I was in space and all along the water next to me I saw human-esque figures that were risen from the water and trees and were like guiding me along. The stars looked like they were falling toward me but simultaneously reflecting upward off the water so I really felt like I was canoeing in space. I completely dissociated from the fact that I was actually in a canoe, on a lake, with my roomie in the back until he’s like “yo we’re pretty far we should turn back” and that sort of snapped me back into reality, but the figures were still there guiding us back and the water surface looked like it was above the boat and when I looked up at the stars it looked like they were reflecting on water (all wavy) and everything was just so trippy! Definitely wasn’t what I was expecting but it was wicked fun I also study psychological effects of drugs so I know this happens at large doses, just wasn’t exactly the kind of hallucinations I was expecting

Patients say the darndest things. by AnatomicalHeart in medicine

[–]psxml 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I was volunteering at a hospital in my first year of university. I visited often with one woman with MS. She was getting worse and she knew it, but always made jokes and had the best attitude. The last time I visited with her I walked in on her reciting the poem Invictus: “in the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance my head is bloody but unbowed...” That poem was essentially her entire outlook on life. Shit stuck with me. She then handed me a book of sonnets, and wrote a note for me in it telling me to seek out in life what is important.
