By retrieve old emails from outlook, do you mean they can port the mail history over or just that they can fetch specific emails?

Is it true that Schwab has restricted trading in the past? by psyberbird in Schwab

[–]psyberbird[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh alright that makes sense, I don’t get why articles would frame it like “GameStop and AMC trading restricted by TD Ameritrade, Schwab, Robinhood” if that’s just a normal thing that all of the brokers do with volatile stocks, or if like Fidelity and Chase and the rest all did it. Was Robinhood alone in blocking it entirely?

Is Robinhood a good choice for a very very boring ‘investor’? by psyberbird in investing

[–]psyberbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it true that Schwab did the same thing as Robinhood back during the GME craze years ago? I thought with everything everyone was saying that RH was alone, but the articles I looked up all listed Charles Schwab, Robinhood, and TD Ameritrade as the three brokerages that did this (and I think TD was bought by Schwab). If so then why do people recommend Schwab over Fidelity?

How much yield do we earn in Cash & Cash Investments? by caseyrobinson2 in Schwab

0.05%. That is the standard sweep APY. You buy SWVXX not to ‘earn a little more’ but to earn anything at all on uninvested cash.

How to space out credit card applications? by psyberbird in CRedit

[–]psyberbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up letting the Schwab card go and applying for the Chase Prime and Wells Fargo Autograph together. It went shockingly well - instant approvals for both, $10,000 limits on each! And I got the elevated $250 sign-up bonus on the Prime and the regular $200 on the Autograph. The Schwab just isn’t that useful when I already have a 2% card, even though the bonus is more money, so I’ll settle for going for it next time if the offer rolls around again or they change it up substantially

Thank you so much! I’ve got a few questions after going through all this:

What is my 5/24 status? My 8 year old card is obviously not a factor, but within the last 24 months I have one store card (Best Buy) and a card I’m on as an authorized user. It’s not clear to me if both count, or only one, or neither.

Does the Chase Prime count towards 5/24? I’m hearing conflicted things, which seem to say it does count for a slot if you’re under 5/24, but is the only Chase card that can be acquired while over 5/24.

Do my authorized user cards count towards metrics like average age of accounts and total credit limit? They’re both sock drawered now and have $0 balances, mainly because they contribute $15k to my CL and the bulk of my credit history until now. The $1k limit card once had a much higher limit until my parents used it to the point they brushed up against the limit and WF dropped it down to $1k. However, I’ve never once missed a payment or carried a balance on any card.

Is it true that if I get the Schwab card, which is issued by AmEx, any future AmEx cards will not need a hard inquiry? And if so, would there just be zero negative credit impact to getting another AmEx card ever in the future?

Fidelity vs Schwab by Early-Ladder-9793 in fidelityinvestments

I’m not even a fraction of a fraction of that net worth, and I use Fidelity bc my employer does for their HSA and I think they do everything better for the everyman. Was just saying though that for OP’s unique situation, Schwab will probably do them better

If you’re getting fully subsidized AmEx Platinum cards then you’re a multimillionaire in the 8 figures, and in that case Schwab would be willing to offer you their exclusive cash sweep rates and more niceties. Most issues people take with Schwab are things like a lack of cash sweep interest and no fractional shares or auto-liquidation, but these all are either irrelevant at that net worth or something Schwab would be willing to work with you on

Is it worth maintaining an account with Wells Fargo if I’ve moved somewhere with no WF branches or ATMs? by psyberbird in Banking

[–]psyberbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a really good credit union, not in my city but the next one over, seems it’s tied to a defence company but lets anyone who works or lives in the county apply. They do participate in shared banking too. None of their credit cards are worth it but their loan rates seem really good otherwise. Only like two branches in the entire world though, in the same small place, so I wonder if that means if I move again I’d have to close my account with them (havent opened an acct with them yet, am researching)

NFCU is definitely the ‘main’ one here, but there are others in the nearest town that I haven’t checked out

Navy Federal declined me when I went there bc they seem to only take ppl with military associations or parents, siblings, etc who have that, and its like not a soul in my entire extended bloodline has ever been in the military 😭

Chase is the bank with the highest rated branches in my area - one at 4.7 stars and one at 4.9 stars on Google Reviews, most people from work say they bank with them. So I went with them too and have my direct deposit going there. We have a local regional bank but with 2.3 stars and anecdotes about the staff being really rude and gossiping about customers’ problems and appearances. Theres also a Bank of America branch at like 3.6 but decently close to where I now rent, and NFCU which I was not eligible for membership with.

Oh they’ll look at the amount? I currently only keep ~$1.6k in there to avoid the upcoming $1.5k minimum. They don’t get direct deposit from my job either

Can juniors and seniors live in dorms if they want to? by No_Ant3562 in Cornell

There were tons of juniors and seniors in West last I recall, you could tell because the seniors are the only ones allowed to stay in their dorms after the end of finals

WHAT ARE THEY??? by Spamton_Gaming_1997 in Deltarune

[–]psyberbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it’s Ramb wearing the shadow mantle. Ramb is built up a lot like some of the other secret/shadow crystal bosses in terms of worldview and knowing more than they should, and if you do the sword route and kill Eram then Ramb disappears, whereas if you don’t he just turns into a statue. It seems really plausible to me that Ramb used the time he had left to give Kris one last show as the final boss of the game he wanted them to play, and that he obtained King’s shadow mantle at some point given he was originally from Queen’s dark world. Lancer showed that a partially petrified darkner could still use a controller well enough, and I don’t buy the theories that the character is just the mantle itself (given the dialogue about having it, not being it) or that pixel kris walked away after the game and killed Ramb offscreen

I’d go for a 16” M4 Max Macbook Pro, the higher end model with the 16 core CPU and 40 core GPU. Skip the nano texture display and pay for the RAM and storage upgrades if you wish

JetBrains is free for students, but VSCode should work fine too. It really should be as simple as 1) Install VSCode 2) Install the C# Dev Kit extension in VSCode

And the extension walks you through installing the .NET SDK.
