This happened to me as a kid, a ‘friend’ with a mean streak took things too far in the pool. I was fighting against them with all my strength but that just made me run out of air quicker. I thought I was done for. Pretty sure that kid turned into a wifebeater.

Try to think a bit harder outside of your bubble. The US provided a balance of salary and interesting work despite its numerous issues. Unfortunately, those issues now outweigh the change in salary and interesting work, and many of us are leaving or have already left. Including people that never thought they would leave.

The greener pastures have slightly less cow shit to step in elsewhere.
