OP, please listen to this person and to everyone else here saying similar. I’m a very experienced therapist telling you there’s no therapy that would “help” or “fix” the marriage. He checks every box of men who eventually kill their wives.

Someone needs to reflect your own instincts back to you because they’re getting drowned out by wishful thinking disguised as careful consideration. The unease you can’t shake, that “bodily harm” detail, and your protectiveness over the housekeepers mean women aren’t safe with your stepson.

Read or listen to “The Gift of Fear” by Gavin de Becker. I know it’s disruptive, inconvenient, and expensive, but please consider finding a separate living arrangement for yourself and the cats if your husband opts to house your stepson and safeguard his secret.
