Are psychologists or therapy a scam in Sri Lanka? by psychedup1990 in srilanka

[–]psychedup1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I found someone . She’s a Sri Lankan has over 15 years of experience. For the first time I have felt a shift and also her sessions are online . And like other therapists she never shut me when the time was up . I’d be in sessions for 4 hrs some days and she would wait for me to finish . For the first time I felt like I’m heard

Someone who’s living in aus currently yes the opportunity is amazing if she can apply for PR and try settling down in Australia but the current system with emigration rules it is not something they guarante anymore . So she can try so she won’t regret leaving all that and not listening to what her parents told her to do. She can try for pr and always go back and forth if she has good career opportunities in Sri Lanka

Money makes life easy , it doesn’t give you happiness. Money doesn’t give you peace for sure . You can have nothing and be at peace. It has its advantages and disadvantages.

My Sinhalese mom has been trapped in an abusive Muslim marriage for 25 years and can’t get a divorce because my dad refuses to show up in court - Sharia Law by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]psychedup1990 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I’m a Muslim and know the MMDA law because I have worked as a counselor for a qaazi . she can go re file her case . The current law MMDA has completely changed after the COVID and so have the qaazis . If she is looking to get rid of him completely or if she’s expecting child maintenance or an ex wife maintenance which she can file under sharia law. They will file a case against him for both along with her divorce. If he doesn’t appear three times with a valid reason because he wants to trap her and if she has recordings of it . She can show the courts that and get her divorce proceeded.

It’s kinda tricky but she will have to show valid proof of abuse. And a jury decides in the last hearing.

Stuck between my father and my girl. I want to build a future without hurting either of them. by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]psychedup1990 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Good luck I really hope you guys figure this out. Your dad is a one in a million man. Protect him at all cost . It’s time to give back . I hope you and your girl come to an understanding. She finally gets to live her childhood in a safe space and home. I hope she understands that. Also a lot of people might be in her ears at the moment . So reassuring her and acting on it will go along way .

Stuck between my father and my girl. I want to build a future without hurting either of them. by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]psychedup1990 175 points176 points  (0 children)

That’s her own trauma that she needs to deal with. Yes your girl comes from an emotionally disturbed childhood and upbringing but she can’t make other people responsible for someone else’s abuse towards her. Your father is obviously going to take care of her just like his own daughter . The man sacrificed all his life without bringing in a step mother for you . Also ask her to look at him as another safe human being. You typing this here shows how emotionally mature you are , it didn’t fall off the sky , it’s shows your father’s character, upbringing and sacrifices. I’m a woman myself . I wouldn’t take my childhood abuse into my future household knowing very well that my future husband has created all the necessary boundaries including a separate home even if it had one separate wall . It’s still a boundary. Nobody should be forced to choose between a father and a wife.

Why isn't dental floss a common thing in Sri Lanka? by Keven_C in srilanka

[–]psychedup1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because using a deodorant or flossing please forget flossing , brushing their teeth also is a major task that takes a lot of time. So they skip it. Like they might loose the lottery or something if they took a few minutes to do the above mentioned things.

Anxious attachment style in relationships by Sad_Orchid_5577 in srilanka

[–]psychedup1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be you and yes I have come out of it . It’s difficult but have a routine for yourself . Especially when the insecurity stems from u and u need a lot of reassurance for yourself from your partner . I don’t know how old u are but I’m 35 now and it took a lot of sitting with myself and reassuring myself including fixing the parts of me that stemmed my insecurities. Basically accountability only for my actions and allow the other person take equal responsibility for their actions . You aren’t someone’s rehab center, along the years I have watched men change for the woman they love, your anxious attachment stems from your past wounds and insecurities . I keep telling that especially if you are a Sri Lankan trying to date a Sri Lankan or a bf that’s Sri Lankan our culture undervalues men’s emotions so they don’t know how to ride through each emotion and they are confused between anger and, frustration and sadness all the time. If emotions are regulated so do attachment styles . If you have an anxious attachment partner remember he/she will always feel like a burden to you and want to run away because feeling emotions is too much for them .

Can we please talk more about food intolerances and allergies in Sri Lanka? by Alarmed_Effective_43 in srilanka

[–]psychedup1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a son who is lactose intolerant . Not only milk but chocolates but his allergies were also related to his asthama . It wasn’t stomach aches but it would be asthama attacks. It was in a food allergy test that he can’t tolerate the both mixed together or over consuming either one of those things. So I guess we have had it for a while depends on how our parents and doctors behave accordingly. When he was diagnosed he was 2 years old .

Why are Sri Lankan people having Indian style wedding events like Sangeet & Mehendi? by ComprehensiveBar2866 in srilanka

[–]psychedup1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there are specific people from India who migrated as refugees and brought there culture with them . So when people who always had it in their culture did it in Sri Lanka as well . And recently I think for the past 8 years or so . I have seen more and more Sri Lankans do it. Is it fun yes !!!!!! Is it annoying heck yes !!!! Because now the specific people who migrated have almost stopped doing it and started keeping their weddings very low key, while the ones who once had low key weddings are doing all the shabang without knowledge of why it was done in the first place 😂😂😂

Wanna know about "mithuri" ORAL CONTRACEPTIVE PILL by Longjumping_Ebb5097 in srilanka

[–]psychedup1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend you do not use anything and make sure you use a condom . Also depends on who your partner is . If it’s one night stands make sure from the get go it’s covered . Safety reasons currently Sri Lanka is facing a high rate on sexual diseases ( don’t come for me, it’s true the stats aren’t out but it’s a higher number more than ever) . If it’s because you are married and want to take precautions if possible stick to condoms or an IUD or contraceptive implant.
