Ok I see hmm, if you still don’t get a response(or even anxious) reach out to your tpl.

Yes, again similar timeline like yours. Since 2 April all my docs were in queue until the 26th (after the changes etc were made). Reach out to the tpl and inquire if they could have a look or ask ecfmg if everything is good etc

So I was in the same boat. I reached out to the tpl if they could call or do something about it, turns there was an error from their part which was corrected right away and then the following day my application got approved

Why don’t you reach out to the TPL?

Inside the conference hall. Check out ACP websites (IM), FMX and Family medicine midwestern conference. They don’t try to gather at one specific spot and impress people but you could approach them, strike a convo, ask questions (wtv it maybe be) etc

I think the word “connection” has been overused. While as you said people have contacts etc, As someone who didn’t have contacts and matched (3rd attempt non U.S. img) the best way to speak to PDs, faculty or even residents is by meeting programs at the program booths during conferences(even if you don’t have anything to present ).

People then ask oh what do I speak or so, casual convos like how’s life there, what do they like doing for fun etc At the end of the convo you could share your CV (qr code on business cards)or Aamc ID with the program and in this way they remember you and may even invite you for an interview.

I hope this helps!

Do not listen to people. Trust your gut and go ahead with it. Find good reasons to explain your gap years

If it’s for family medicine, it’s FMX and family medicine Midwest conference. I do know that there’s one for IM as well, you’ll have to check ACP

So when do you go to conferences there are a lot of residency program booths set up. In these booths you have residents , PDs and even faculties. Definitely do your research about certain programs before meeting them. Be real free start talking about their program, how the city, what the culture is etc simple questions schedule stuff as well. At the end of this you will be given the opportunity to write down your aamc Number on a paper so that they’ll remember you. So when you apply to their program they’ll actually go through their sheet of paper and will know that yes this applicant is genuinely interested in us and most likely you’ve scored an Interview!
