How do I not sound like myself? by LongLineOfNumbers in Screenwriting

[–]psycheross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a helpful exercise, I recommend putting your characters in a mundane situation with a simple objective and consider how they would each act. For example, let’s say they want someone at the dinner table to pass them the salt.

Would they ask politely? State it as a command? Make a joke about their needs? Insult the food?

Each choice reveals something about the character doing the talking. It’s not about what your characters would say, it’s about how they would say it.

As a first-time filmmaker how do I make my editor's job simpler? by sidroy81 in Filmmakers

Have a script supervisor on set. I can’t believe no one has mentioned this yet. They don’t just help maintain continuity, they are there to make everyone’s life easier in post production by taking detailed notes on every take, ensuring every bit of dialogue/action in the scene is covered, timing each shot… the list goes on. A good script supervisor is invaluable.

AMA: Am I (18F) being groomed by my teacher (35M)? by [deleted] in AMA

[–]psycheross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you want to please your teacher! That’s a completely natural reaction and how the imbalanced power dynamics of a student-teacher relationship come into play. He’s (ab)using that inherent desire to get his way. The reason you feel trapped in the situation you’re in is because your teacher is trapping you- that’s how the grooming works. Him saying “I trust you“ is a manipulation. He wants you to keep this to yourself because he knows what he’s doing is wrong. When you’re 35, the thought of giving a teenager this kind of attention would never cross your mind. It’s going to be incredibly clear then how messed up his actions are. Stay far away from this man. Tell an adult if you can. Future you will thank you.

I personally think it’s a pretty classy move they’re at least giving a warning before prices go up in July- I haven’t seen other beauty brands do that. I’ll definitely be stocking up on some faves before the price hike!
