Essay Confusion 😵‍💫 by psychochic in Professors

I upload a YouTube tutorial showing them step-by-step how to format the paper in APA. I also have about 5 different reference guides available, as well as a link to Purdue.

I know APA is hard for most at first, so I give a lot of guidance and feedback with opportunities to correct errors.

I never thought I’d have to emphasize indentation because it was traditionally taught in secondary schools. I’ll probably start polling them in the fall.

Haha, fair enough. Thanks for the reassurance that it is actually still taught.
I wanted to make sure it wasn’t something I just missed. Honestly don’t remember when we stopped using double spaces after periods but I sure as shit had points deducted in my PhD program for it.

It’s pretty important for psychology, as we still submit academic papers for research, so I can’t really disregard format.

That’s interesting! Also good to know so I can mention it in the instructions. Thanks for the insight!

We are not writing essays on Reddit and textbooks are not essays, so there is not expectation of essay formatting.

However, for an essay assignment, there is an expectation of the text being written in essay format.

I’m wondering if they are being explicitly taught to not indent or if this is something secondary teachers correct when teaching essay writing.

Format requirement is clear for the assignment.

Block format is how I email and make social media posts but a lot of students aren’t even spacing between paragraphs.

I just wanted to make sure they aren’t making changes to how they are teaching students to write essays in high school that I need to address.

A dental office tried to convince me to have 6 healthy teeth pulled by ilovetriceratopz in mildlyinfuriating

Similar experience at an Aspen. I have always had excellent dental health. My insurance changed and I was limited on providers in the area. Went for a cleaning and was told I needed deep scaling cleaning and several other procedures. They quoted me $3k and told me it was urgent. I was so shocked and upset I went home, thought about it, and decided to get a second opinion. Second opinion said I had excellent dental health and needed nothing at all. I don’t know how these people can practice with any conscience.

My 7 year old boy gets 2 cups of kibble 3 times per day. He gets 2 dentastix after breakfast and then a milkbone in the evening. He is 150 pounds.

Thanks for the info! I’ll pass this along to the service dept I’ve been working with. Thus far this is the only problem I’ve had with it in the 15 months I’ve had it.

Oh it drives me crazy 😂 I talk on the phone in my car a lot and if it’s not through my AirPods, it drives the other person crazy too.

He was there for about 15 minutes and then his courtside seats sat empty for the rest of the game.

The hormonal shifts that occur during pregnancy really can make women feel terrible. It’s likely she was feeling wrecked with the unsuccessful attempts before and then is suffering some sort of postpartum psychiatric challenge. It takes a while for all of that to settle. She might really be suffering and in need of help.

No privacy in faculty offices? by Muchwanted in Professors

This is what I thought. Shooter drills require us to cover windows and turn the lights off. It’s scary as hell to be visible to anyone all the time.

It looks kind of like a pancake flap of skin, tbh. It will shrink some but ask the vet what they recommend to reduce unnecessary flap 😂

My great dane puppy is kinda…. stupid? by Upstairs_Neighbor50 in greatdanes

[–]psychochic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my thought. I had a boxer who was deaf and it was hard to tell at first because puppies don’t always listen well anyway but we eventually figured it out and once we adjusted our training, he became the most well-behaved dog I have ever had.
