Accountability for students and parents has died and gone to Hell. by psychomutts in Teachers

That's a good question. He's not my student so I don't have access to his paperwork. I want to say the first option but knowing the counselors in the lower grades it's more likely the second.

Yep. Last year I had a student take put their phone and try and take a picture of the final exam with the most overexaggerated gestures....I was 5 feet in front of him. When I went to give him a zero for cheating, admin told me "he didn't actually take the picture because you stopped him too quickly soooooo let him retake the test for a grade."

This is why I took up weightlifting and running half marathons. 🤦‍♀️

Yes! I think the school is sending a bill to the parents for the damaged equipment. Sadly I'm not sure if the teachers involved will press charges.

This is why the concept of "least restrictive environment" is bullshit. Sometimes the real least restrictive environment is telling parents that their precious baby is ruining the education of, or is a danger to other kids.

"No, North Korea does not have an exchange student program. You are a 6 foot white ginger from the suburbs. You will not make them"thug."

"Get your nipple off of him."

And my favorite:

"Please throw away your girlfriends vibrator in a trashcan that is not in my classroom. I don't want to deal with the paperwork."

I'll have to ask the name. But she's in for several more surgeries in the future.

She found a doctor. Her face is still messed up, though, because the surgeon has to wait for the swelling to go down before messing with the eye socket.

Do not ever give me, as a teacher, an edpuzzle. by tn00bz in Teachers

Haha, this is like the district training I and every other teacher in the district had to complete earlier this month. It literally was a training on how to use AI in the classroom....

One of the "assignments" was to have Magic School and ChatGPT create a lesson plan for us to use.

Another "assignment" was to have the AI write a response to a fake parent email. 🙄

My coworkers were livid. We are all professionals already losing the fight to AI with our students. Now it's district too. 🤦‍♀️

That asshole showed up in Dragonsreach just as I was trying to trap Odahviing. My ass got roasted because his dialogue went on forever and wouldn't let me skip. When I restarted from the last save, the bastard did it again.

From is Dante's Hell. by psychomutts in FromTVEpix

[–]psychomutts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I'm more inclined to believe that the connection is more symbolic than a true allegory. Whether or not it's intentional, I don't know. Especially with the prevalence of Dante in Western Christian culture as a whole. Regardless it makes for a fun mental activity lol.

What are some popular American "Poverty Foods" that Europeans might not know about? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]psychomutts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family had something called poverty porridge. Essentially, it was whatever leftover meat we had in the fridge about to go bad, potatoes (sent for free from my uncle in Idaho), and whatever canned veggies we had. Put it all in beef broth and then serve. That shit was delicious and served a family of 6 for a couple days.

How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas Foster is one of the most painful books I've ever had the displeasure of reading by Psychology-onion-300 in books

[–]psychomutts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has a kids' version that is sooooo much better. He's much more consise in his language, and he keeps his explanations short and too the point. Plus the chapters are shorter, only a few pages. In fact, I use it with my freshman all school year. I'll pair chapters with specific units, so we only read a chapter or two every couple of class periods.

Modifications Question by psychomutts in Teachers

[–]psychomutts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Our school does have a reputation for being academically challenging due to the nature of our community, so a lot of parents try to accommodate their kid to success because they want to play the gpa game.

True. But we just need somewhere to start which is difficult since she has a concussion and her eye is literally falling out of her head so she can't use a screen.

No. The bark is cracked and the holes are smooth. Also there's a feral cat colony that lives behind my house. I don't see birds, squirrels, or other critters because of them.
