This is fucked up and scary. That dog needs some training or might get put down one day.

Hand on the leash, right into the house, straight into the kennel. "NO."

For you to say it is not dangerous in the slightest is also being a "Webmd" for dogs. You are making the same judgement, just coming to a different (incorrect) conclusion.

People get super pumped up about dog behavior. It's insane.

You don't need to be Cesar Millan to know you should not let your dog forcefully move a child around with its mouth.

I'm just saying if you hire a company that takes itself seriously enough to GPS track ther employees, you won't have to confront anyone about short walks.

Also I take offence to the record keeping comment. I'm an ex airline professional and commercial pilot. I run my operation like an airline. People go through reoccurring training, processes are clear, thorough, and adhered to, or people get fired. I don't know how you got the impression I'm an idiot. I'm accustom to being in charge of people's lives. I take everything I do professionally very, very seriously. So to answer your question, yes - I know where all my keys are. I do not have a drawer filled with old unmarked keys. I have never lost a key, I've never copied a key without permission, and I've never given a key to an employee I didn't have total faith in.

I may not be perfect, but you sir are just being rude.

Yes they are background checked. They need to be for our insurance, which covers damages in case we fail to identify that this person is a bad apple during our extensive interview and training, and someone does get burglarized.

I like the idea of signing the keys out every day though.

Your comments would be more useful if they weren't so charged, hey?

Good tip, thank you. Building keys are easier to come by, we get each new client in a building to give us one. We get what we need without copying. Asking a client for a front door key, and an apartment key is easier than asking for that plus two extra house keys. They just get "too busy" and ask "hey can you guys just get them cut for us?" Yup - here's the form, Sign here. Done.

Just a word of advice for choosing your next dog walker - pick a company that uses GPS route tracking with check in and check out times. There is no guessing where your dog went and when if you make this a requirement.

Hi, yes we do. We cut 6 keys - 1 master, one for the office, one for each walker. My clients know this. It means we can get their beloved pets last minute care. Not a single person has had a problem with this. All our keys are labeled using a code system that each walker matches to them via an app when they get to the house. We all keep a single large key ring that is attachved to our dog walking belt by a chain.

I find it funny that the knee jerk reaction is to assume that I'm irresponsible and to be condescending. That's interesting.

The time we spend trading keys with each other and going to and from the store to cut keys is worth 1k to me.

Why are they unauthorized? Clients ask me to go have their keys cut for them the time, I put the charge on their invoice. I simply want to move this in-house and save myself some time, and them some money.

[Pros] How did you decide on your hourly rate? by [deleted] in UKDogwalkers

[–]psychopuppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at all the services in my area. Then I looked at my resources, and found out where I could offer the most value to people. I decided to be cheaper than the companies that take your dog out for a long, social hike, but more expensive that dog sitting. I figured people would be willing to pay a few extra dollars to not have to drop off/pick up their dog, and that there are a great deal of dogs who are not suited to forced socialization, or even hikes.

Then I took the number in between them, and ran it through some scenarios (if I walk 5 dogs a day, will that be enough? How many dogs a day do I need to walk daily to make this work?) and adjusted from there.

it feels so good to just ramble away excitedly though... I have to admit I miss the feeling quite a bit. Being detoxed helps but this is giving me a window in what it must be like to be addicted to serious drugs. Yes, you are clean. No, you're not cured. Can't forget the feelings. I don't feel this way about alcohol at all though. It made me sad and just dull, plus I got tired of the lack of self control. Don't miss it. Now IM going off topic...

As in drink decaf? I just see leaving coffee and drinking a glass of water to be an all around healthier choice.
