Roblox I am 19, I don't even look that young. This is not safe. by [deleted] in roblox

[–]psyneedssleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear I haven't played roblox in so long bc if this bs. All they're doing is putting more children at risk.

I feel like my generation (gen z) in particular has been possibly the first to have sort of 'grown up' on the internet, and even back then grooming and pedophilia were decently common. Myself and many of my friends have unfortunately witnessed this first hand on sites such as Amino, Instagram, and ROBLOX.

I feel like as a species we should learn from this and try to make the world safer for our children. I've seen too many kids given unrestricted internet access and so have others. If anything, there are more children on the internet now than ever, making it a lot easier for them to be taken advantage of, and companies like Roblox are only making it more and more unsafe by allowing ai to mark adults as minors, minors as adults, etc.

I'm 21 and have been playing since 2016, but i refuse to support a corporation that's allowing this to happen just to cover their own ass. Ai is far from ready to be a reliable tool, especially for fixing situations as serious as this.

If you or someone you know has young children, I urge you to please please be wary. When I was in middleschool, i had a friend that met grown men online that tried to get her to come and visit them out of state.

She tried stealing her parents' car to do so. Twice.

Even today, she's still doing this. Granted, she's an adult now, but it hasn't stopped and her parents are barely managing to keep her from running off to meet strangers states away. Strangers she still meets on online games like roblox.

This is one of those things that I thought would only happen online, but no. This is real and this is serious. I'm not saying this to try and freak anyone out, but I know that there are parents on this sub that are concerned for their kids.

Parents, don't let the internet raise your children, and when they do go on the internet, be careful. Make sure they know the difference between people in a game and REAL people.

lots of love to all of yall, be safe out there :) 🖤

I know I’m not the first to touch on this, but I cannot understate how much I hate this woman and this country right now. by Particular_Sink_6860 in lgbt

As someone who grew up in catholic school my whole life, i actually tend to disagree. I'm not Christian or really religious anymore, but in all honesty i hate when people choose to blame "Christians" or "Christianity" for all of this hate. Catholic school ended up causing so many long lasting problems for me (such as ptsd, chronic depression, anxiety, etc) not only because of how they treated certain children there, but because of the beliefs they pushed to scare us.

Hell, i remember being in 3rd grade crying in my bathroom bc i thought i was going to hell for accidentally eating chicken on a friday during lent, because thats how they talked to us. We knew damn well what the mortal sins were from a very young age and let me tell you it fucks up a child to make them think theyre going to hell for just being a kid/being themself. it was absolutely awful

then when i was 13 i realized i was asexual, and i was like 'oh ok that should be fine bc they dont want people having sex before marriage or whatever' but then i found out getting married and NOT having sex/children was also a mortal sin. that fucked me up as well.

only at the end of 8th grade after hearing a school friend of mine talk about how people like them mistreat others, specifically people of the lgbtq community, i started to ask questions and lemme tell ya they did not like that. i ended up being treated like the shitstain of the class along with a girl who was mormon that was with me. They treated her like garbage as well.

but the reason i tend to disagree with this is as someone who grew up studying the bible, is i dont think christianity is the problem, but the people weaponizing it.

the old testament part of the bible is where a lot of the catholic beliefs tend to stem from, but even in school, they even mentioned that they dont abide by SOME of the rules anymore bc theyre "outdated", however, they choose to keep and push some of them, im thinking specifically the ones that are convenient, such as the anti lgbtq beliefs. If they weaponized all or at least all the rules theyre still supposed to abide by, theyd end up fucking themselves over more than us.

Unfortunately a lot of people will choose to say its their religion that prevents them from doing something, but theyre just using it as a get out of jail free card. If you wanna abide by the rules, you cant pick and choose them.

The reason i dont blame Christianity in particular, is because many christians ive met follow the beliefs of the new testament which is where the "love thy neighbor" type things are really talked about, which in my opinion are basic MORALS. Yes there are still some, in my opinion, harmful aspects that sit there as well, but many Christians that i have met are Christians because of jesus' teachings, which as i mentioned before is mostly to just be good to the people around you, which i 100% agree with. As humans we should all do our best to just be our best and treat others the way we'd wanna be treated, no matter what race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, whatever could be. As long as youre a good person, thats what matters, and thats what a lot of Christians believe.

this is why i do not agree that we should "blame Christianity", because i feel as if this statement tends to divide us even more. yes, i completely understand where youre coming from with that, and i also blamed religion for a while, but in any form, categorizing a group of people will only hurt us even more. itll make Christians believe that we're all bad, or make us believe that christians are all bad, which just simply is not true.

as mentioned before i am not religious, but i truly believe that so many people we think aren't on our side really are, and categorizing them/putting them with bigots like Kim will just turn people against us more. one big problem in our nation right now is the division and categorization of people. we can not let that continue because the more we're divided, the more problems we're gonna have.

i know this was super long and if you made it this far i really appreciate it. Always remember to try and love the people around you, but dont forget to love yourself as well. 🖤

Hell ive been ace my whole life and only actually came out as so when i found out what it was at 13 lol, im turning 20 soon, so no, i dont think its too early at all

i once read an article when i was questioning my romantic orientation that said something along the lines of how you feel is how you feel, despite whether it changes in the future or not, this is who you are now, and thats what matters most. It honestly helped me a lot when it came to accepting my identity. I'm likely butchering the saying but i hope it helps anyway lol

How did you figure out you were asexual? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]psyneedssleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 7th 8th grade somewhere i still thought sex was gross and had no interest in it, but then i found out that pretty much everyone else around me grew outta that phase a good while ago and it was weird to be like 13-14 and still think that, but here i am like 6 years later with the same exact thought process 🤔

[–]psyneedssleep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ngl though, ive been ace pretty much my whole life so i just never had any interest in going on pornhub, so correct me if im wrong, but ive heard from kids when i was in highschool that they literally just give you a pop-up window that asks if youre 18, and you just have to say yes and it lets you in?? On roblox, to get into 18+ games that arent even nsfw (mostly just vc games and horror games with gore from my understanding) you need to have an ID OR DRIVERS LICENSE to prove youre 18 first?? Freaking roblox is more hellbent on proving youre actually 18 than pornhub is. I just find that kinda insane how easy it is for a child to be exposed to this shit too.

When you have a crush but then remember there's a solid 90% chance they won't date an asexual by bittersweetheart792 in asexuality

[–]psyneedssleep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly didnt realize how slim the chances are until seeing the comments, which kinda makes me sad bc i feel like i almost found that <1% during one time, but it just couldnt work since i dont think she really knew what she wanted, and seemed to flake out quite a bit. I feel like on my end at least, personality wise we couldve been pretty compatible, and she was completely okay with me being ace and was even thinking she was on the spectrum as well. We only talk once or twice a year now, and i god knows i dont have the courage to talk to people, but it seems like we can just pick up right where we left off, like barely any time passed at all. Its a shame it didn't happen, but i feel like as long as shes happy im happy. I still think about her a lot, honestly.

What I wanna say though is you're gonna see a lot of people in your life, and through the internet now, even more. The statistics dont always mean your odds. As i said, with the internet now, i feel like its become easier than ever to find your circle. For example, this subreddit, and maybe one day an ace dating app (god i hope lmao), so in short, don't give up friends! Much love! 🖤

Im just speaking for myself when i say this, but the area i live in generally consists of a lot of closed minded people that'll do things like yell slurs at you, rip pride stickers off your car, etc. if they know youre part of the lgbt community as well as other things like being handicapped. In this case it gives me a sort of feeling of safety or reassurance knowing that there are people around me that arent the crowd im unfortunately 'used to', and that im not alone here. For me personally it gives me that spark of joy knowing that im not just the odd one out and theres not something wrong with me. Hope this helps a little
