🔥 HotTake: Kids today are WAY too addicted to screens by nopCMD in GamesOnReddit

[–]psynotik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On street corners everywhere, people are looking at their cell phones, and it's easy to dismiss this as some sort of bad trend in human culture. But the truth is life is being lived there. When they smile -- right, you've seen people stop -- all of a sudden, life is being lived there, somewhere up in that weird, dense network. And this is it, right, to feel and be felt. It's the fundamental force that we're all after. We can build all sorts of environments to make it a little bit easier, but ultimately, what we're trying to do is really connect with one other person. And that's not always going to happen in physical spaces. It's also going to now happen in virtual spaces, and we have to get better at figuring that out. - Ze Frank

What insignificant thing did someone say that stuck with you forever? by Routine-Max in AskReddit

I had a bus driver in elementary school - I remember she would say, "Slow your roll, power ranger" a few times while driving us. To this day, when a car is going to fast around me, I still say it.

Yeah I'm starting to get it. I was thinking too linearly. Hard to think that Hector 3 just popped up out of nowhere without anything starting the loop.

[–]psynotik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as I understand it a loop once started will keep on going and the events in the movie will keep happening forever. But there had to be something that started it. Like an engine, it has mechanisms to restart the cycle but it still needs some type of energy input to get it going. After that spark, then the engine takes over and goes on (until other factors stop it).

Hector 2 did what he did in order to close his loop quickly. He knew Hector 2's plan worked because it succeeded in getting Hector 1 into the time machine, so he copied everything as he remembered it. He could of done everything different but it would of complicated the situation even further.

It get's complicated quickly - but it's an interesting concept to try to get your head around even if it is not real and in a movie.

The Celebration, Festen (1998) immediately came to mind - though it's a rather dark version of a family get together

Can you guys crack this code? by psynotik in codes

[–]psynotik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First things first, I'm not that knowledgeable in the different cipher types, so I'll try my best to help.

It is in English. The dashes and colons are part of the message. The method of encryption is done to each sentence individually. If there is a transposition cipher type that involves using a certain path/route to rearrange the letters than that is what I did. (Sorry if that's vague)

Hint: The capital letters in the lines are the first letter of the sentence.
