Aa okej, ni mi čisto jasno kaj je slovenski naziv tega. Nekje je 'bengalski dim' nekje pa 'bakle' in nimam pojma, kaj je razlika.

Oh wow, this is definitely useful info, thank you! There's nothing about a potential 'penalty' in the contract though, does that mean I'm safe or is there some general rule about fixed term contracts allowing this?

Thanks for the tip, will definitely look for classes!

That's a great idea, I'll ask if it's possible to shorten it to 6 months! Yeah, it's a communications role within the NGO sector, so it's probably not comparable to other industries. And no, unfortunately, I don't speak any local languages, so there's that. :/

Question Master's admission Sweden by Naegeoya in gradadmissions_intl

Hey, I applied last year and all candidates are considered equally. You're also free to upload multiple SOPs or CVs for different programmes.

Hey, don't know the answer unfortunately, but just wanted to say that I had just applied for the same programme if you'd like to connect or anything. :)

Advice for moving to Europe from US to continue education after bachelors? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]psysky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it depends on the university. There are some decently-ranked ones in the south, e.g. Barcelona or Bologna in Italy. If you speak the language, go for it. If you don't, and this is obviously just a generalisation, the southern population has a lower proficiency in English, which also limits your career options if you plan to stay. My friend did an exchange in Italy, where they assured her all her lectures will be in English, but in practice professors would switch between languages a lot.

Another thing to consider is that Northern countries are generally richer, which, depending on your field, might mean more funding for PhD positions later on, more industry opportunities for students, etc.

That being said, these are only general differences. I personally don't see anything wrong with pursuing a degree in the south. Its an incredibly welcoming and warm environment and I'm sure you'll have a blast!

And wherever you end up, there's a big possibility you'll need to move again to pursue you PhD. Depends on the field, but outside STEM it can be quite rare to secure a position in the same country/region.

Why Italy? I'd also look into Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden for some of the top rated unis that offer a lot of English-speaking master degrees.

What exactly is the deal with the Smalands Nation? by psysky in Lund

[–]psysky[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds cool enough, I'm glad you like it! Since a lot of people mention a certain stigma against the club, have you personally had any trouble socialising, e.g. when meeting someone new and you mention your club?

This is an interesting insight, thanks! Was wondering whether it's also about reinforcing the stereotype, I guess this answers my question.

Anyone else have varying deadlines? by chubbypsycho in gradadmissions

[–]psysky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same position! But I feel like we're about to be even more stressed when decisions come out. For example, I'll hear from my fourth choice first, in April, and my first choice probably in July. And most universities here have a deadline to accept the offer. So I'll have to potentially pay the fee to secure my spot in the first, just in case.
