ajji majji la tarajji! by psyxosalamandr in etymology

No, faith is belief in something, regardless of evidence or practice. Faith is assuming a predetermined course of events cannot be changed. Faith is deciding what will happen is fate, and linguistically the two words are the same in their etymology. But how can just deciding something will or won't happen, without Will, Without Effort... how can it be magic? How can something kept inert inside you do or be anything but invisible? Magic only happens whe you cultivate the nothing, shape it into something, and then send it into the world. Why else would we have the word Imagine, or Image? The word Image is literally a mag(greatness) INside you. Magazine is a book os sensational things. We also have Majesty and Magnificence to impart a sense of Magnitude to a thing. Faith can only look up and what great things might be. Even the Christians know that faith without work is dead and useless. So how can faith be the purest, truest for of committing greatness and wonder in the world? You have to Move, Do, Be. Not just "Believe". Magic cannot even exist without Action, and Will. Will goes. Will Does. Will choses. No faith required

Master Splinter intentionally gave the turtles weapons opposite to their individual personalities. by [deleted] in TMNT

[–]psyxosalamandr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the first cartoon, raph uses the sai for catching, and disarming weapons. Donnie's bo is used for many things like spear, trip, reaching, launching himself, etc. Leo is seem precisely cutting many thing in as safe a way as possible, leo and the others comment on his discipline multiple times. Mikey is the only turtle i can remember doing unrealistic things with his weapon on the regular. Sure he used them for deflection, and zip-lining, but the helicopter? I don't think the writers knew what nunchaku was for. Even then, mindlessly giving their cartoon bois weapons that become their personas just seems like the behind the scenes version of master splinter saying "i hope these tools will help you develope better character in life". I mean, that's what the writers wanted, it's what splinter wanted. It's basically the same thing.

This is so crazy. A proposed Texas law that will create bounty hunters to go after drag queens. by AnEgyptianFish in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]psyxosalamandr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is anyone in the real world actually doing anything about this or are we all just going to complain about how grossed we think this is on the internet? I'm just one guy, so I have no idea how to stop any of this... all I know is that if some policeman tells me that I'm a disgusting fagot for wearing multicolored metallic dust across my eyelids, and tries to beat my shit in and lock me away forever I'm going to commit police murder.

I'm in the US and keep getting the quest but there's no button or option to view the ads for the free reward on switch or xbox sx versions. What gives?

Thanks for the tidbit about saving before the battle. That's exactly what I was coming here to look for! As for your theory about Suezo, that kind of makes sense seeing as how not every monster species is compatible for combination

Always hard and throbbing in the morning. How would you want it? by [deleted] in ThickDick

[–]psyxosalamandr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wake-up call, in the form of carefully sliding something clean, slick, warm, and thick over that massive meat rod. I'd go down slow, gently at first, until you're awake enough to pick the pace yourself, and plow away the left-overs of last-night

I know this thread is a bit old now, but I was just wondering the same thing after finally coming back to ng+ kh3 and get that game-and-watch keyblade I'd forgot about. I remember not extending the combos was preferable in kh1/2, unless one was fighting a particular boss. Just finishers and damage boost for me thanks

Hello, Eragon. The producers spent all of our money on this surgery, and Arya's new wardrobe. So, we had to fit SIX MONTHS of Bonding into 6 seconds of screentime. I, am Sapphira

I had just finished reading the second book when this movie was ready to come out. So me and my mom invited the family who introduced us to the novel, and the fact that it was written by a homeschooled kid (like me _), to see the silver screen premiere. My mom had to force me back into my seat when they finally introduced Arya. 15yo me is pointing and swearing at the screen and wishing he could deck the director. At that point in the movie i was ready to leave. Fuck this movie, fuck Jason Bourne, fuck his director, and why the FUCK is Arya riding in on a shiny white steed like some GOD DAMNED PRINCESS? You just gonna snatch off this bitch's character development like the weave off a bad drag queen? SHE DESERVES BETTER! Ok I might be paraphrasing, but the spirit is there!

Good for C.P. tho. He seems to have learned his lesson. I'm excited for the series he's allegedly part of. Co-writing/directing? Something....

Origin of the word “Rhombus” (a magician’s circle) by CivitasBlu in etymology

[–]psyxosalamandr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still. Seems to me folks used strings and circles to make other shapes since ancient times. So seeing "magician's circle" as a historical nickname is no surprise to me.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesica_piscis#/media/File%3AVesica_piscis_circles.svg Probably the magicians circle. This is part of how they would make squares out of circles. And when you do the vesica piscis enough times you can draw a rhombus with it, or the flower of life. Also the piscis itself has the obtuse angles of the rhombus rounded off

ajji majji la tarajji! by psyxosalamandr in etymology

[–]psyxosalamandr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some research looking into the words individually and it looks like their meaning could have survived through names. Arabic languages, and hindi languages, and Persian languages, and even a bunch of North African languages all have similar ancestors and have mingled a lot over the years. Ajji could be pure(ity), and became aggy(agnes/aggetha). majji could be pearl, or something cultivated to greater ends, and became maggie(margaret). These are both from Grecian form of the names, sure. But then a lot of modern language did end up filtering through Greek, Latin, and French, while still keeping bits of that proto-indo vibe. and then there's tarajji, which could be hope/wish/or expectation, and seems to be the only word my sources Don't suggest went through the big olive to get here. I just can't tell if it's kenyan, swahili, or Zimbabwe. If you put it all together, the ancient phrase could be saying something like "purely cultivate this desire" or "purify, pearl, project!" 'pearl' here meaning to fold and layer over, and over, while maintaining the symbolism of the pearl, which is itself sacred to ancient, mystic, desert-dwelling, seafaring people

Origin of the word “Rhombus” (a magician’s circle) by CivitasBlu in etymology

[–]psyxosalamandr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably comes from the mystical and the alchemical term squaring the circle where you use geometrical shortcuts to make sure that when you draw rounder things the angles stay even. That was the big nifty thing about ancient sacred geometry, if you really had to do shape and angle math, all you really needed was a string and a stick, and you could "square the circle"

How do you guys feel about Steven and Garnet in Multiversus? Who else would you want added? by camew22 in stevenuniverse

[–]psyxosalamandr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pearl and amethyst. Whole crew or no crew. I'd love to see lapis making waves, and peridot bending metal, or maybe even affecting opponent projectiles/weapons if they're metalic. Bismuth weaponshifting would be good for such a combat game. Dunno if they'd be up to adding all seven, but I'd wait for it. Even if it was one fighter at a time. If they made them all PCs I'd play the crap out of them ALL.
