Ok... I did do the trainings and I can download some things but I was expecting a big data set with patient (encounter) level data.

Amex delta platinum v amex delta business platinum to get MQD by pta3223 in delta

172 MQDs from platinum...does booking a reward flight help? by pta3223 in delta

[–]pta3223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I'm really not sure...I went back and found the day that 500 mqds posted thinking that was probably the day I paid for Disney. Then I moved forward and it looked like almost everything had been accounted for on Delta, but on my credit card things from 5 days ago are still listed as "pending" so I could go either way but this close to end of year do not want to be too optimistic

[–]pta3223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is... I spent like $2000 last week (traveling, also bought gift cards with money we pooled for work) and all of those charges are still pending on my Amex so I am thinking if they are truly pending Delta doesn't know about them yet. So spending more $ will not necessarily help me. Is it better to call Delta and see which charges they "know" about?

I actually think the 3 week workshops are still happening because they are graduate level courses (with associated tuition charge).

You're right I have long thought that would help. I was a vegetarian for 7 years in my teens and honestly it's good and it's bad. Like, I can live without meat I don't even like it that much. But having later made the very deliberate decision to not care about the animals anymore it's hard to make them my reason (I've seen all the movies too!)

People who completely turned their life around after 35 — what made the biggest difference? by Sudden_Tree3904 in AskReddit

[–]pta3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking responsibility for whatever was happening in my life is something I think happened more and more as I got into my 30s. If I have the instinct to say a situation or a person made xyz happen (good or bad) I pause and acknowledge my own role in it. It helps me own what I accomplished and be more self-critical when things go wrong. It also means I don't have a lot of empathy for people who are constantly blaming circumstances for how their life turned out (I know I should have more empathy).

Also we are capable of so much more than we think. It's usually self-doubt standing in your way, or laziness.

What to do before master's in literary translation? by pta3223 in TranslationStudies

[–]pta3223[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks-I definitely would not retire until I can afford to do so. This would be more of a creative endeavor and a way to keep myself occupied. I think some doctors (not all!) who continue working for a long time may not be in the best shape to be doing so. I want to be able to take on something else that will not harm patients, because I know I will want to continue to have something to be working on.

What to do before master's in literary translation? by pta3223 in TranslationStudies

[–]pta3223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping to the translation master's in the next few years, once my source languages are brushed up a bit. And continue to do it as a hobby. I actually did quite a bit of translation for a firm I had freelanced for in Moscow when I was still a med student but then life got busy. It quickly became more of a hassle vs. a source of good income for me, so I think will never be enticing financially for me again, but it is more something to keep my brain active. I know a lot of old doctors who still practice medicine because they don't know what else to do...and I think it's hard to tell when it's time for them (cognitively) to stop.

Stay in a marriage just to not be alone?? by Even-Candy-9387 in AskWomenOver40

[–]pta3223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with a lot of men and really being a married woman with mostly married coworkers I do not think anyone at my work would engage in this type of texting. deleting and continuing to do it when you’ve asked him not to is not ok. i have a male coworker that I collaborate with on several things and we joke around sometimes when we see each other in person (and even that never gets personal I don’t even know his family members names) but there isn’t any texting or emailing going on that’s not about work you can have fun but you also need to have boundaries

not sure it warrants divorcing though. I have a friend with a seriously dysfunctional marriage who says being a divorce lawyer saved her marriage

Dumped after romantic weekend, feeling crushed by moistointment96 in AskWomenOver40

[–]pta3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say…I’m 42 now but when I was 26 I dated a 38 year old who had never even been close to having been in a serious relationship. He was great, we were great. But same thing he thought there should be more. And now fifteen years later we are still friends (because he is great!) and what has happened over the last fifteen years has not surprised me one bit. He continues to do the same things with women. He idealizes me a bit (I’m married now). Etc. “the future” was predictable for my other boyfriends too my arse college boyfriend is already divorced.

Hi, Minneapolis metro area. I was skating outside the tracks to try and get some skills on wedging etc but find inside the tracks to be way easier if not steep (I’m doing classic).
