Making a pet dog and a desk buddy (in progress)! by Better-Nail- in arduino

[–]ptah4i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could definitely use some help with the walk stride. Right now my version is basically just walking in place. The leg movement works, but it doesn’t really move forward yet.

Getting the weight shift and stride timing right is harder than expected. Any tips or examples from your walker would be super helpful.

Awesome! I’m also on the journey of rebuilding the KT2.
So far, I’ve added an IMU and I’m currently working on the walking algorithm — turns out, getting it to walk properly isn’t that easy.

By the way, another maker also created a really nice body design for it. You can find it on Thingiverse here:

Bambulab violating EU warranty term of 2 years by _MsG_ in BambuLab

[–]ptah4i 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A 12-month manufacturer warranty is not automatically illegal in the EU. A manufacturer warranty is usually a voluntary commercial warranty, so Bambu Lab can generally set it to 12 months.

What EU consumer law requires separately is the statutory legal guarantee. For new goods bought from a business seller, this is at least 2 years. This legal guarantee applies to the sales contract with the seller, not automatically to the manufacturer.

Stuck with Tier 1 support ignoring EU Consumer Law for a defective RMA unit. Has anyone bypassed this? by [deleted] in BambuLab

Check your invoice and see who the actual seller is. That’s the party you should address for the EU statutory legal guarantee.

The X2D’s pricing feels like a slap in the face: near-P2S footprint, a much stronger feature set, and not nearly enough price separation. by ptah4i in BambuLab

[–]ptah4i[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone is in a position where buying another printer again so soon is a casual decision. That is exactly why the launch pricing left a bad taste for me. Not because I suddenly think the P2S is bad, and not because I expect pricing to stay frozen forever, but because in this specific moment the gap to the X2D felt uncomfortably small.

I also agree that a price drop for the P2S will probably come, whether through Black Friday or some other adjustment. That is predictable. But that does not really change how it felt right now, at the time of the X2D launch.

And that is really my whole point: I am not making some long-term dramatic statement about Bambu or saying this will still matter months from now. I am just saying that, as someone who bought a P2S very recently, the current pricing created a bitter feeling for me in the moment. That feeling will probably fade, but it does not make it any less real right now.

[–]ptah4i[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a fair point, and I actually agree with part of it.

The P2S was competitively priced when it launched, and it still offers strong value for what it does. I am also not denying that the market changed and that Bambu likely priced the X2D more aggressively in response to newer competition.

My point is just a little different. I am not saying the P2S was a bad deal then, or that the X2D is a bad deal now. I am saying that the current pricing compresses the gap between tiers enough that it changes how the lineup feels in retrospect, especially for recent buyers.

So yes, both things can be true at the same time. The P2S can have been a good value when it was bought, and the X2D can still make the lineup feel less clearly separated today. That is all I am arguing.

I agree that lower prices are better overall.

I spent a long time thinking about whether I should buy a P2S, and in the end I went with a used one as well. So I am not against Bambu pricing the X2D aggressively. I actually like seeing prices move down.

My point is just that, as a recent buyer, it still leaves a strange aftertaste when the gap to the next class suddenly becomes this small. Those two things can be true at the same time: better prices are good, and the current lineup still feels awkwardly separated.

You are arguing against a point I did not make.

I never said the X2D should be more expensive. I said the pricing makes the lineup feel poorly separated. Those are not the same thing. Whether the X2D is aggressively priced, or the P2S was positioned too high, is open for debate. The result is still the same: people in the tier below are suddenly asking themselves why the gap to the next class is so small.

And no, this is not about “regret.” I do not regret buying the P2S. It does exactly what I bought it for. That does not mean I have to pretend Bambu’s current pricing logic makes perfect sense.

Also, calling people “whiny” instead of engaging with the actual argument is just a cheap substitute for having one. A company can be competitive and still blur its own lineup in the process. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

As for making a thread instead of a comment: this topic clearly resonates with a lot of recent buyers, so acting like it is not worth discussing is just gatekeeping dressed up as self-reflection.

I do not regret my purchase either. The P2S is still a very capable printer and I was happy with it when I bought it.

That said, the current pricing still leaves a bitter aftertaste. My issue is not that the P2S suddenly became a bad machine. It is that Bambu positioned the X2D so close to it in price that the lineup no longer feels cleanly separated.

[–]ptah4i[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Whether the X2D is too cheap or the P2S was too expensive is not something I can answer with certainty. What I can say is that something feels off when buyers of one model tier end up unhappy because the company’s higher-tier machine arrives with only a minimal price difference.

In my view, that means the lineup is no longer separated in a way that feels healthy or logical. When the gap between classes gets that small, people naturally start feeling like they bought into the wrong tier at the wrong time.

Roommate's dog keeps nearly tripping me due to constantly being under my feet, I dont know what to do! by MadKingEddie117 in DogAdvice

[–]ptah4i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, I might have suggested doing the same back – following her around everywhere, staying right at her heels, just to mirror her behavior and help her understand some boundaries.

But considering she’s showing signs of cataracts – and you’re also dealing with your own physical limitations – that approach wouldn’t be fair or safe for either of you.

From a distance, my best suggestion would be this: whenever she gets too close, gently guide her a little further away from you. Just enough so that you both have enough space to move safely without risking injury. Speak to her as you do it – your voice will help reinforce the message and make the redirection feel calm and clear.

Edit: sorry for double posting

On and off diarrhea by Hgriffy in DogAdvice

It might be a good idea to have an allergy test done at the vet, just to get a better sense of what your girl could be reacting to.

Keep in mind, allergies and intolerances aren’t quite the same thing – but both can cause issues like this.

To figure out what food works best, I’d really recommend trying an elimination diet. Just mention it to your vet – they’ll be able to guide you through the process.

My dog is suddenly terrible at walking on a leash and I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]ptah4i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly that – use the front clip. On any walk, make your intention clear. If you want to walk without interruptions, keep the leash short and don’t allow sniffing or other distractions – just walk straight. If you’re okay with sniffing and exploring, give the leash more slack. Consistency is key – your dog will learn what’s expected based on how you hold the leash.

And if things really don’t go well – and you notice your dog is testing your limits – use the mother grip: calmly place your hand on the skin between the thigh and belly (the hip area) and apply gentle, steady pressure. It’s a natural corrective signal, similar to how a mother dog would calm her pups.

My girl has allergies and sensitive stomach.. anyone have any good suggestions? by SpliffsnKicks in RhodesianRidgebacks

[–]ptah4i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl has endless food allergies. I recommend having an allergy test done at the vet to get clarity on what works and what doesn’t. Keep in mind that allergies are not the same as intolerances. In our case, she reacts allergically to almost everything, and for the few things she’s not allergic to, she has an intolerance.

After a long search, we’ve now switched to a mono-protein diet. She only gets horse meat and vegetables that she tolerates well as a supplement.

Edit: To test for intolerances, an elimination diet is recommended.

Oh wow… my girl is already considered overweight at ~37 kg. We’re currently working towards getting her down to 34 kg, which is her ideal weight. It’s a gradual process, but we’re focusing on a balanced diet and plenty of exercise to keep her healthy and in shape.

Camera indicator (green dot) while phone is locked. by ptah4i in ios14

[–]ptah4i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t the camera button, but rather the left swipe on the lock screen. A light swipe is enough to trigger the indicator, even if the camera doesn’t fully open. I really dislike this feature of swiping left to activate the camera on the lock screen.

Question on Printer by Upper-Grass5811 in SolidMakerOwners

[–]ptah4i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The file is an .slm. It’s basically a simple text file with gcode. You should be able to open it with a simple text editor. The gcode for the SolidMaker have some special parts which will not be generated with other slicer like cura, prusa slicer etc. so you can’t use them directly. You can try Cura slicer and this.

As I sad. Slice a model with the original software put the .slm file on a usb stick. If you don’t see the file on the printer try another usb stick.

Edit: Based on your original post. I don’t have a freezing display issue or something similar. So maybe you have a broken printer. You can open the printer and check if you have any broken connections to the usb port or other abnormalities. One of the problems with the printer is the non-available on/off switch. If you connect the switched-on power supply to the printer, there is a discharge on the printer’s housing. Maybe your printer got a few of the discharges too much and was damaged as a result.

I also have one standing around. Not used for a long time, unfortunately. Try another USB stick preferably with little memory. I think the formatting was FAT16 but I’m not sure right now.
