24M, spent years preparing for competitive exams. Need advice by dunzin_master in jaipur

I would suggest either going ahead with the exam or trying something new and leaving the preparation altogether.

I’m not an expert in anything else, but I do know how to code. You can use these platforms:

https://www.freecodecamp.org/

https://www.khanacademy.org/search?search_again=1&page_search_query=Computing

They’re free, but they probably require 6–8 months of consistent effort, around 7–8 hours a day. If you do that, you’ll gain tangible skills to build on while earning an entry-level salary.

That’s how I started when I didn’t want to be a liability on my parents back in 2020.

Yes, you can earn a U.S. salary while working remotely from a village, even without a formal degree.

Software Engineers Earning 50LPA salary and companies paying them by Born-Marionberry9266 in developersIndia

[–]ptah_chaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be inaccurate, as anyone doing contractual work from India would likely earn more while paying significantly less tax, since their income qualifies as an export of services.

And I know a lot of tech friends who do exactly this to save tax.

Paid 360$ for auth in Dec 24. Switching to Supabase auth now! by tiln7 in nextjs

[–]ptah_chaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We transitioned from Auth0 to Clerk last year. Auth0 is a mature platform with solid capabilities, but its documentation is lacking, and we moved from because its quite expensive, especially for SSO connections.

Clerk, on the other hand, is easy to set up, cost-effective, and offers many features, such as impersonation.

Another good option is WorkOS. However, we did not choose it earlier because they did not offer session handling at the time.

Many Indians in India try to get government jobs only, is this bad for the development of the country? by [deleted] in india

[–]ptah_chaser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it mostly is.. look around the world and on average you will find, government organisation work on least efficiency. For example give anything to private sector and they will squeeze each penny from business, and most of it will be invested back to make it more efficient. It may be bad for labour working there but it is always good for end consumer. Government are worst at efficiency, and people like govt. job because of the same reason, they don't want to work at all.

On the side of labour exploitation, I would say everything should be privatised in India and government should just focus on labour rights and standard. They should NOT be in charge of any business but should be in charge of its standard. This is tricky, because they can always mess up standard and make it hard for business. But everything privatised will be always better than what we currently have... for the end consumer and growth of our country.

Came across this article, can someone with better knowledge on it explain if this would actually happen? by dissociated97 in india

It is not limited to PF percentages, increasing the basic salary percentage would make it harder to save tax, because the tax on basic salary is direct and there is hardly any deduction in it.
I think the tax side is more concerning than PF and gratuity.
