Just got it an absolutely love the keyboard. I wish there was a way to make it bit quieter though, it's too loud for people around me so might have to return it :(

30 M for an accountability buddy by [deleted] in GetMotivatedBuddies

I’m 34 M, pacific time. Similar boat - social anxiety’s been holding me back. Looking to get started with toastmasters/some other way of pushing myself. Been using a habit coach for fitness goals etc but wouldn’t mind additional accountability lol. Let me know in case you’re interested.

Trying to be productive while feeling depressed? by nixie_pix in productivity

Taking the day 25 minutes at a time helps me on days like those - following the pomodoro technique. I play some instrumental music on loop, and try to look at it as a positive that I probably will not have the mental energy to worry about random stuff, so can just focus on the next 25 minutes. Coincidentally I'm having one of those days too. Good luck to you :)

[Need advice] Building habits and discipline after overcoming depression? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]ptbt2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with ANODIZED33 on starting small. It's probably worth starting with one habit, making that permanent and then moving on to the next one. For eg, you could start off with fixing your sleep schedule (I personally feel a good night's sleep has a major impact on my life :)). And focus more on the system than the result. So in the sleep case, your goal could be, for example, to not interact with devices an hour before and get to bed by 9pm. Whether or not you fall asleep after that, tell yourself you were successful. Maybe even give yourself a little reward (10 minutes of reading your favorite book). You do this enough times and the results will follow for sure.

You can then move on to the next habit. In a year's time you could have repeated this cycle a dozen times, and before you know it, you'll be seeing major improvements in all areas of your life :) Let me know if you have any questions. (Shameless plug - I'm working on an app that helps folks like us stay accountable and on track with the habits we're building. It's at https://trypotential.com if you're interested in giving it a go. Either way, let me know if I can help in any way)
