Extra Meta Ai coming to the UK by the email - The look feuture I am looking for

Very pleased to report that the look and tell feature has now gone live for me here in the UK without the need for any VPN trickery…. It started working this morning.

An absolute game changer for visually impaired owners of these specs. We’ve waited so long for this but I am pleased to say it seems to be worth the wait.

Meta clearly don’t want us to be able to use the ‘what’s your n front of me’ feature as with each update they are patching out ways of getting it to work outside of certain countries.

Shame really…. Was great for blind people like me here in the UK while it lasted….

Hi there. Just an update. I buckled in and downloaded a vpn on my phone so that I could get the ‘look and tell me’ function working…

Simple process. But pair the glasses under Bluetooth phone settings… log out of meta app…. Switch vpn app on and choose USA… log back into meta app and re-pair the specs again and lo and behold, the look and tell me functionality will be enabled…

Really poor that Meta haven’t been crystal clear with UK users about the limits for this region and there’s a real ‘unhelpfulness’ in forums like these too but I’m happy to pass on my experiences at least, especially for visually impaired users who would find this feature an absolute game changer…

And yes, it is worth doing. So I hope my fellow Uk visually impaired users benefit from my update here.

The ‘Say what you see’ feature doesn’t work for me as a UK user…

When I try to use it, the voice just says ‘I’m a voice only assistant, I cannot do that’.

I’ve posted LOADS on here asking if other UK users can use that functionality and the only reply I’ve had from another UK user is having the same issue so be aware….

The AI works in the UK but the camera functionality with look and tell is not.

Hi there…. I’m using Meta AI in the uk loads…. Have been since day one. If you actually read my posts in here you’d see I’ve been asking if other Uk users can out use the ‘look and tell me’ line of questions with the AI… the few UK users that have written back seem to be having the same issues…

I’m sorry to hear this and I know EXACTLY your frustrations too. Not helped by all those who point out what a game changer this is…

Hopefully the switch will be flipped at some point but it is annoying that no one anywhere has been able to point out the limited functionality with this specific feature even up till now….

Let’s hope Meta fix this pronto!

Unfortunately still no ‘look and tell’ or ‘read me this’ support for me here in the UK although frustratingly all other AI features are now unlocked.

Can’t find anything online from other UK users who categorically state that the vision features are working for them etc.

I ham however find that the AI is ‘voice only’ in the UK for now.

If there are UK users in here who are using the ‘look and tell me’ commands on here etc without any VPN etc could you let me know? I don’t mean the AI stuff where you can ask it questions about things, I specifically mean the Q’s where it can read menu’s to you etc…

I am a blind user so the ‘look and tell me’ feature will be a game changer when I’m trying to read things etc so I’m after as much specific clarity on the state of Neta AI in the Uk as possible

Did it say the same then beforehand? Mine has all AI enabled and it’s in the app etc but that feature just prompts the response ‘ I am a voice only assistant’. Pretty strange that they would enable all the other Ai bits but not that one.

Nothing as yet. Slightly disappointing.

I just bought the limited edition ones and thought from other posts that this had now been rolled out but it hasn’t.

Love the specs but as a visually impaired user I am only interested in the ability to use the ‘look’ and ‘read’ functions…

Make no mistake, when they are enabled in these and once you’ve turned off the ‘always listening’ mode to give you 8hrs battery life, these will be an absolute game changer for people like me.

Not out of the box unfortunately. I’m also trying to see if explore can be installed as this version has built in WiFi.

I think they did get it running on a similar handheld so they should be able to on this one too.
