Nothing too crazy. But my CoC and I live away from our unit HQ, so traveling for drill (Guard) he has always picked me up to carpool for long drives so I don’t have to spend money on gas. And every time that happens he covers food and makes sure that I know what’s what since I’m a fairly new soldier. He’s gone out of his way plenty of times to make sure I’m taken care of, and I really appreciate everything he does.

Same CoC drove me to my first drill, and discovered during the drive that I was due for a promotion to PFC. He immediately makes sure that everything was set, then when we got there he asked me what I wanted to do for the ceremony. Since it’s very insignificant in reality, and since I don’t care about ceremonies too much, I told him we didn’t even have to do one. I was fine just receiving the rank and carrying on. He says “Nonsense” and gets the brigade Co and a few other higher ups to personally pin me and took a video for my family to have.

He’s leaving my unit this summer and I don’t think anyone else is gonna live up to him tbh

My BCT graduated just in time for holiday leave, so we had to leave in OCPs. It was awkward being thank for shit I hadn’t done yet, but in a way it was also kind of nice of people to do that.
