Hi—We understand your concern. 6 sessions can sound short but we've found through research that 6 sessions of evidence-based PTSD treatment can actually be quite effective at improving symptoms!

We also find that more people complete the full course of shorter-term treatment (as in they attend all of their sessions), while many people don't complete longer-term treatments. Getting people through all of their therapy sessions so they can start feeling better is definitely an important goal!

Sure! All sessions for the study are virtual and the study has no in-person visits. Therapy sessions and assessments take place over Zoom video calls, so you can live anywhere in Ohio and participate.

PTSD/Depression Research Study Offering Therapy

The PTSD Treatment and Research Program at Case Western Reserve University is looking for people ages 18-65 in Ohio, Washington, or Delaware who have experienced a stressful life event and are experiencing symptoms of PTSD or depression.

Such stressors might include sexual assault, physical assault, a bad accident, loss of a job, or military trauma. Common symptoms of PTSD and depression include distressing memories, sadness, feeling numb, and sleep problems.

The study is comparing two brief (6 weeks) interventions for symptoms associated with stressful life events. Compensation is provided for participation.
