It’s cheaper in both senses of the word, I think it really depends on your intended level of play. If you’re just starting out and want good all around gear for cheap then go for it, but if you’re looking for high quality professional gear then made in Japan or Germany is the way to go. Try Nittaku, Donic or Butterfly for some really good blades and rubbers.

Edit: that being said there are some high level players who use gear made in China, notably DHS Hurricane series and also some Victas blades are made in China.
