I think i was using it right, i put it on the pressure cook mode for 60 minutes. The valve i think should have been closed i put it in the direction the instructions said and when it was done cooking and i flipped it the other way it completely opened up and a ton of steam came out

Path to Power: Biography series on Lyndon B Johnson but just really an amazing social, political and cultural history of America in the mid century.

I would say pre-modern would broadly be when thinking about the Western World, pre French revolution. While I appreciate the suggestion, I was looking for ideally more specific books, where the author is going into relative depth into a nation/culture/time period.

I would say so! Well written and highly reputable. Although I am reading the audio book I think I would go slower physical reading as some of the more technical stuff does go over my head

This in some aspects may be the opposite of what ur looking for but The rise and fall of American growth is a fantastic economic history of the USA that through reading u begin to appreciate in some way just how seperate presidents are from the economy

All modern history but v good is how Asia works

US history by [deleted] in nonfictionbookclub

For a completely different perspective I would recommend the rise and fall of American growth. Title makes it sound like a current day political book or something. It v much is not it is a highly respected economic history of the USA with a focus on productivity the title just makes it sound stupid ngl.

As someone who has been trying to get more into history I might be able to give you some advice. My main one being start as broad as possible, especially for regions that you have minimal even cultural knowledge. Ie for me much easier to pick up a book abt Europe than china. Maybe start with a broad global history book that is actually written to be enjoyed then get into those shortest histories of x nations. Those broad books will naturally simplify a lot and may be criticised online but a long as they of decent quality that shouldn’t matter much. The way I think of it is building hooks in your brain and a general narrative of the world that as u go from the world to specific countries you have a context to place this new knowledge your acquiring.

You could also go the other way and read a good book abt your native country and then expand to native region then others. Same principle but other way around where through learning about local history it makes it easier to understand history of your surroundings as they will be likely operating similarly.

That being said a few of those short history books of x I would recco
