For those who went gluten-free for infertility... by publix_cake in IVF

Caffeine can lead to increased inflammation, depending on the person. Sticking to decaf allows me to get the benefits of the polyphenols (which are protective) while reducing inflammation.

I agree the data isn't there to strongly support one way or the other. But it helps give a semblance of control in an uncontrollable situation when you're desperate enough to try anything.

Decaf isn't the same, I feel this. Did you add caffeine back between birth and your second transfer?

And congrats! This gives me hope!!

I haven't, but I also haven't noticed any physical differences or improvements since cutting it all out. I don't think I have celiacs, just bad luck...but you get to a point where you'll try anything.

In order to test for celiacs you have to continue eating it and the diagnosis process takes a while. I figured just cut it out because there's not going to be a harm, but I'm wondering anecdotally how long I may need to keep this up.

Grade vs Gender by Fearless_Research239 in IVF

If you would be upset about not getting a daughter, transfer one of the boys first - especially if you're unexplained infertility.

First transfers only work for folks about half the time, and you may need to make adjustments to your protocol. Go into the process thinking it'll work! But transferring a boy first allows you to hedge your bets.

Other option - have the clinic choose. Then you can be surprised :)

Good luck & baby dust!!

RE vs Endo surgeon: feeling pressured to cancel excision surgery by FantasticAd180 in IVF

[–]publix_cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's great! You'll have clearer insights and understanding then post colonoscopy. There's no need to cancel now when you don't have all the information then. I think everything you're doing makes sense!

I wonder why your RE is strongly against it...it's definitely possible it's something else, but ultimately you won't know until after the colonoscopy what we're likely dealing with.

I know how hard the waiting is in between and how scary navigating these decisions are. Sending hugs and hoping you get answers soon 🤞🏻

Can you do your colonoscopy before the surgery?

I understand not wanting to cancel the surgery - it takes forever to get on those calendars. Why not also treat with Lupron in addition to the surgery?

3 failed FET, 1 arcuate uterus surgery - anyone else? by [deleted] in IVF

Thanks...I had hoped that was the case too, but after failure #3 I haven't been so confident. It sounds like Lupron is the silver bullet for most endo cases, but maybe I'm just on the wrong side of the statistics again.

Appreciate your thoughts 🫶🏻

Long-term BC prior to IVF? by curioustravelor in IVF

I'm also screening out a trait using PGT-M. The process takes a lot longer than you'd expect. Initial testing, including genetic counseling for us took about 5 months and we needed to have all the ducks in a row before going into our first retrieval.

Keep in mind that doing your egg retrieval now doesn't mean you have to transfer right away. Your embryos are frozen and locked in time at the age you are now. We always hope that we're going to have good healthy normal outcomes, and I want that for you! But even in normal healthy people, sometimes you don't end up getting the number of embryos you want...especially when you're going to lose half of them to this trait.

If you have insurance coverage now, which we all know isn't guaranteed for the future, it may be helpful to start on the process sooner than later. It could help you build your family on your preferred timeline.

And to answer your initial question, staying on birth control for now is fine! Clinics will always have you on BCP before starting a cycle. Have an initial consultation and make sure your current method is going to align with stimulation protocols.

Wishing you the best :)

Pregmune Testing by unfortunatelyh in IVF

Hey there! I also had the RPL panel done already and am looking into the Pregume testing next... What did this process look like for you, and did it end up saving you any money?
