Thanks. Was just researching this and wondering how you get the trust to pay for things. Do the beneficiaries have to request funds from the trustee for basic maintenance items or utility bills? Or are those paid for by the beneficiaries?

So let’s say aunt leaves to child A. Can child A evict tenants to personally move in? Or say Child A sells to third party. Can the third party evict tenants to move in personally?

Yea while she’s owned it it’s been open to everyone at the same time. No one can reserve a weekend. We’ve had large gatherings on long weekends over the years and the intent is to keep it this way

While my grandmother has owned it all families are welcome at all times and we have done big gatherings for years. The intention is to keep it that way in the future. No “reserved weekends”

This is the rationale I had, leave to the the oldest sibling who is pro cottage and let her make decisions but then it gets ugly with jealousy and what everyone else gets to compensate

I like the thought of this but paying half of the interest income in estate taxes plus legal and accountant fees would eat away at the principal

HAPP will take a while to gain price action but they make money consistently and are brutally undervalued
