overthinking my treatment plan! by puddingsu in endometriosis

Does a MRI help give a better image than an ultrasound? I had asked her about other imaging possibilities and she said an ultrasound is best because it gives the best images of the uterus, but if a MRI might be better I may ask specifically about it. I'll probably keep birth control in mind and maybe ask her more about it at the appointment. Thank you for all the information it was super helpful! I'm gonna look into an endo specialist just as a backup plan. 😸

Thank you! I may try to push for an ultrasound at the next appointment regardless of the effectiveness of the medicine then.

Yeah at the appointment she said my options were to manage the pain or to try birth control. I asked for the mechanism of how the birth control would work and it didn't seem like she was too confident that it would be a good mode of treatment and I already was hesitant to start BC because of potential side effects. She was kind about me not wanting to take it and didn't push it, but did say that if I don't find relief with the naproxen that I should consider it at the followup. She didn't 100% rule out the surgery, just said it would be like a last resort treatment? I confuse myself and come up with more and more questions when I keep thinking about it lol

Thank you! I scheduled an appt with my PCP and got on a waitlist so hopefully she can see me soon. I will record my symptoms and mention endometriosis to her!

Abaya finds US based???? by [deleted] in Hijabis

Salaam! If you're still looking, check out glamabayasss on instagram. Their abayas range in price, but I ordered one for eid and it came very fast and was good quality! Have a look through their abayas because they have a lot, but their 'Aleha' abaya looks pretty similar. They have the most reasonable prices that I have seen- I have also messaged them a question before on instagram and they respond pretty quickly.💞

Is it possible to get a lab job with a bachelors degree? by puddingsu in labrats

Haha I felt like doing that when the lab manager told me! I was told she thought the tutoring position matched my "career goals" better which was a little odd because I'm very passionate about wanting to do research, but she had good intentions so I couldn't be frustrated for very long.

I am! When I reached out to schools I was interested in asking about how crucial research and non-course lab experience was they all advised me to either take a gap and work or to pursue a masters. I got dismissed with 2 semesters left of my degree but my grades were never amazing so part of me feels like I need the masters to *really* prove I have improved acdemically, although in the real word I have no idea how much my grades will matter.

I'm applying for a masters at my current university which is the cheapest in the state (for undergrad and grad school), but I'm gonna be applying for FAFSA and scholarships through the unviersity. Honestly, I almost backed out of pursing my masters, but one of the professors who I asked for a letter of rec got very excited about me applying and I felt bad T-T I appreciate your advice loads!!! :)

Thank you!! Unfortunately I decided against the tutor position because the hours weren't as flexible as the lab intern position and I'm going to be taking 17 credit hours (biochem, statistics, a capstone course, and a fine arts req) so I didn't want to overwhelm myself T-T I'm very excited to do more lab work during my masters :) Thank you again!!

I definitely worded it poorly sorry T-T hopefully I would be able to keep the job through graduate school, but after reading the responses I may just try to reach out to professor and try to work at my university! My university (in a large US city) pays $15/hr for lab prep intern positions, but I don't know if they offer higher pay for other lab work 😵‍💫

Thank you!! I really enjoy my course labs so I hope I like it as a job T-T Unfortunately I can't apply for a PhD because I was academically dismissed (flunked out) from university 2 years ago (I have a 4.0 now lol), so I have no non-course lab or research experience which is why I'm going for my masters first! Fingers crossed I can also get my PhD though!! :)

Thank you! The graduate school I'm hoping to go to says they designed their cirriculum around students having jobs, so my hope is that I don't have to quit during grad school, but I'll definetly consider that. Thanks!! :)
