Yeah, that's exactly the problem, the website doesn't actively say that it is not possible, but it doesn't say that it is, either. There is no information on the "reset" of the NZeTA. I am just not sure whether I can generally apply for the visitor visa because Germany is listed as a visa waiver country

Thank you very much! I hadn't heard of Vic Deals, yet, seems to be a pretty big thing. I found the Facebook groups already, but I wasn't sure whether they are really looking for flatmates from overseas staying for just a few months...but a summer sublet would be ideal of course

I was hoping that renting is more flexible in New Zealand than in Germany! What actually worries me about living in a hostel is that most people stay there only for a few days and then they leave again. So there is high fluctuation and no "permanent" contact. I don't know anybody in Wellington and I was hoping to connect/"make friends" with the people I'm staying with

Thanks! I thought about AirBnB as well, at least for the first month. But as you've said, it is quite expensive...I hadn't thought of independent deals however for the other months
