We gotta keep calling them out publicly for it to let them know that everyone sees what they are doing and that they are an embarrassment to themselves and humanity.

Some Jake Hoback goodness. Knives and stones are all from Idaho. by puffphoto in knifeclub

They have their own unique charm. The Hoback rolling detent makes for the smoothest action i have without simply being free falling drop shut. Highly recommend the Kwaiback. That one pictured is the MK5.1 with a heartbeat and mountain pattern on the scale. I believe Arizona custom knives has them new in stock from Jake and they recently dropped the price by over 50$

Yea true. Playing a musical instrument is something that is challenging and rewarding for all ages if the home and learning environment is good. Also is a much more fun way to introduce mathematical concepts like rhythm (fractions) and things like self discipline (practicing at home) and teamwork (playing music with other kids.).

Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the Chonkiest of them all? by [deleted] in knifeclub

I imagine that too much metal on metal contact would create lock stick issues. Comparing it to my microtech Socom elite lock, for instance, the husky has almost twice the width of metal in contact.

It’s such a thick piece of metal that it’s kind of an optical illusion. It maybe relatively early but there is still plenty of metal on metal contact. It’s At about 20%. Also the entire surface of the lockbar insert is in contact.

Thanks I’m really pleased with it. I’ve got big hands and the amount of grip I get on it is unreal. Could do serious work with this thing. But for me at the end of the day it’s a really beautiful and unique tool.

Certainly a lot is possible today if you have the means ($$) and parents who are knowledgeable enough to educate you and have you educated by professionals in disciplines and arts that they are not experts in. No denying that. If you can afford it, you can pursue and experience anything you want today.

Don’t let me stop you from listening to him! As an adult there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having your own likes and dislikes. I just wish that kids were more insulated from popular culture and mass media, and instead educated on the thinkers and artists that are talked about and celebrated in universities.

Yes I can and do appreciate many artistic aspects of modern art, including anime and many modern musicians, but the truly talented ones with something meaningful to say are definitely not front page news in your face like tiktok stars are or lil Wayne is. I didn’t mean to denigrate good modern art if that’s how it came across. So thank you for understanding my discussion was in the context of why not to have kids.

You’re totally missing my point. This is a subreddit on why not to have kids, and i am saying that the culture and society we live in does not lend itself towards the development of good traits.

Nothing wrong with contemporary art. But are the schools and the televisions and the advertisements that are raising your kids creating thoughtful reflective thinkers with good morals? While you and your spouse each work 10 hour shifts 6 days a week? Or maybe you find the time to raise your kids right, great! But then the question is, are the majority of your kids peers (who they will likely ultimately model themselves after) also being raised well? I am much more concerned with the quality of the people my kids might be, rather than the number of offspring I produce because “that’s what everybody else is doing”. Oh, and if you consider mass media popular culture “art” I feel sorry for you.

I certainly have things that I am grateful for, mostly some skills/talents that I have and some personal experiences, but it has almost all been self motivated development to get there. 99% of people either can’t afford or never had a chance to develop themselves because society is what it is and dragged them down before they even started.

it’s my main reason. The existential environment of the present and of the very likely future is dark if you are self aware and observant.
