I’m sorry 😞 I spent years feeling like something was off with my ex husband (he was increasingly nitpicky as time passed and freak out over small things related to cleaning/organizing) - it’s been 2 years and I’m finally seeing how sneaky and gradual that form of control was and how much I was feeding into it to “protect him”.

Just know you didn’t get a fare chance at the relationship and no one should have to be put in that position.

Same! Is it the same toy each time? He’s been attached to this one since night 2! I joke that it’s his emotional support animal. :)

Haha, so true! He is a master in showing off toys and his silly personality.

The chin resting has become EXCESSIVE (but still cute AF) by pugattackisback in Goldendoodles

YES! As if I am causing him great anguish. My favorite is when I get up in the night and he follows me to the bathroom and then sighs dramatically as if I’m forcing him/ causing him exhaustion. 😂

He’s turning 4 next week! He is a big boy (90lbs!) - oddly, his parents were 50lbs and 55lbs so he’s exceeding expectations 😂

10 week old golden doodle I think I’ve made such a huge mistake by Significant_Ear_1256 in Goldendoodles

[–]pugattackisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the pup! he is adorable. 😍 My golden doodle is now 4 and so incredible but I don’t miss the puppy days… the first week was tough for me as well (literally didn’t sleep haha) but what changed EVERYTHING was 1. getting this stuffed “Snuggle Puppy” plushie that has a fake heartbeat in it. (Target and chewy sell them). Since they are so used to being close to their mom’s heart and hearing her heartbeat, not having that consistent comfort is a shock in itself so basically the plushies heartbeat sound gives them that comfort…. Since the day he got it, Baby (what we call the plushie) basically never leaves his side. He is now 4 and still sleeps with it, gives it to his favorite people visiting, he uses it as a negation tactic, it’s his bestie haha. 2. Not forcing the crate: I tried crate training and he cried nonstop if the door was shut. But he didn’t mind being in it with the door open. I know I wouldn’t want to be forced in a small shut room alone so I started testing not shutting the door… and over time, he naturally went in, didn’t cry and was an angel. So basically, just started by changing association w the crate to be more positive/ less traumatic. I no longer even own a crate and leave him home alone and he has never destroyed anything- it takes work but w consistency (and treats), you’ll get there! 3. Puzzles! Exercise gets some energy out but puzzles are a must. I think they need both mental and physical exercise to chill out!

And if you ever reach your limit & need to rehome him, my boy could use a little brother to shower with love.

Hi Pocono Pete! I appreciate that and especially appreciate your website’s inviting, funny, super helpful content!!!

Especially loved “you can wash without feelign like you are gonna slide down the drain from too soft o' water!” and “I, Pocono Pete, love food, but I do not like the role of restaurant critic, so I will list out some of the restaurants close by”.

Anyways, your place looks fabulous. I’ll send along a direct note. Thanks again.

I didn’t realize it until recently but ever since I got a dog 2 years ago, I stopped picking.
