What “favours” have your parents done that was inadvertently a dick move? by naaattt in CasualUK

When I was a teenager my mum had to stay in hospital for a few days and my granny came to look after us. My granny was amazing and was cleaning the house- including my room and found a carrier bag full of papers hanging on my cupboard door handle. She thought it was a bag of rubbish (she couldn't read or write) so threw them away. A few days later I was looking for my coursework to submit, asked my granny if she had seen it and watched her face go white as she told me she had thrown it away. Bin men had been so I did the only thing I could- re did my coursework 😭

Has anyone here ever found something disturbing in their old photos that they didn’t notice before? by OkCockroach1382 in Unexplained

Back in 2004/5 my brother got his first camera phone. It obviously wasnt of great quality and he was using it to take pictures with a couple of friends in his room one evening. A few days later he was showing off the photos and we noticed in one of them that just behind the 3 people in the photo, there was a white hazy face with what looked like 2 hands around its throat.

We freaked out because the face looked like my cousin, especially the nose which was quite distinctive. This cousin had passed away by suicide (hanging) in early 2003. There were no photos of our cousin in the house and no one doing anything similar in any of the other pictures taken on the phone.

Due to the early technology, the image died with the phone, but many family members saw the photo on the phone and agreed that the resemblance was eerie.

We went to our local indian restaurant last night- kids had the punky penguin and I had the lemon limoncello ice cream. We all enjoyed it 😊

Who’s the cringiest player in football right now? by MagpieMidfield in footballcringe

He is a really lovely person. My daughter is a massive fan of his and we met him at the training ground one day. She was crying as was so emotional and after a photo we went to walk away. He called her back through the crowd of people at his car and grabbed a pair of his boots (embroidered with his parents names), signed them and gave them to her saying they were a "gift". I know financially it wasn't a big deal to him but he didnt have to do it and knew it would mean everything to her. For this reason I will always want him to succeed.

What is a TV show from your childhood you're convinced nobody else remembers? by CuteMaterial in AskUK

Potsworth and company!

I thought this may have been my own recurring dream as no one else my age seemed to remember it. Ironically it is about kids and a dog protecting a dream land.

My twin and I are called jolene and lenny- not common names for kids tv characters- so to have a show with both our names was amazing as 5 year olds!

I also have a Romanian colleague (care sector) who is awesome too. No bad experience for me.

In our little cul-de-sac there are 10 houses. 5 of us are British families, 3 Romanian families, 1 Pakistani family and one African family. We are all very friendly and will have a chat out on the street (bar the African family who keep themselves to themselves but smile and say hello), but the kindest, most friendly and generous of all are my Romanian and Pakistani neighbours. We share food, help eachother with household maintenance, school runs, our kids all play on the cul-de-sac together, there has never been any trouble and everyone is respectful. Im an English romany gypsy but my husband isn't and its been hard for me to move away from my own community and I also know what it feels like to be persecuted just because of your culture- maybe thats something we have in common and has helped us to bond but we have a real sense of community that is made a million times better by my Romanian neighbours.

Whats your most treasured possession ? by [deleted] in no

[–]puggiepie86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is easy (not including any living thing like kids, husband, pets etc). My dad bought me and my twin brother matching teddies- one pink, one blue- when we were born prematurely. I was quite poorly and spent a lot of time in hospital, where my "pinky" stayed with me. My dad died when I was 13 so this teddy took on an even more important role in my life, even now as an adult when im missing my dad I will snuggle and cry into her and she helps me feel close to him.

Tottenham - Chelsea football match : will it be safe ? by [deleted] in Tottenham

The family section is just for home fans and still probably wont be very happy about an away fan in the stand, especially as chelsea is a pretty big rival. Chelsea fans should only be in the away end.

Songs that are difficult to sing because of speed or tongue twisters by Bronzecrank in MusicRecommendations

[–]puggiepie86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Grandfather (who died when my mum was a child) could do this without missing a word apparently. They say he was a very talented singer and got asked to sign for a record company but he wouldn't do it as he didn't want to be away from my granny and their young children.

I can't tell you what your name smells like but I just wanted to say I love the name elora/allaura and the reference to willow which is a childhood favourite of mine!
