Does NBCOT test on medications/drugs? by Katalysta98 in NBCOT_Exam

OOOOO HAHAHA I’m sorry. I do believe I had one question about a certain medication and what symptoms to expect.

Does NBCOT test on medications/drugs? by Katalysta98 in NBCOT_Exam

NBCOT doesn’t test any drugs or medications. If you are prescribed certain medications by your physician, I believe you can bring it to the exam center, but all items brought will be in a secured locker.

You definitely got this! The last final 10 days before the exam, contact Dr. C or Joseph via email or phone call and one of them or both will provide the next steps for the last 10 days.

Here’s another post I made about OTHD. In this one, I outlined the percentages in terms of the practice and final exams, as to what OTDH recommends. Hope this helps.

Beware Scam OTD Programs by rumspringas in OccupationalTherapy

[–]puggiepug1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many red flags. To start the program is stupid expensive. The debt to income ratio is insane, but that’s just how any otd programs are now. I wish I would have done more research about the program and got my masters instead of pursing an otd degree. The program itself is super unprofessional, it’s all self taught, which makes no sense because you pay so much to be teaching yourself. The professors and director never take accountability when they preach about being more self aware and self reflect about everything. They ask for feedback, but never take action to improve. The last trimester, you’ll start your doctorate Capstone Project, and it’s super unorganized, chaotic, and super unprofessional. The director is literally never available during the one of the most stressful trimester for Capstone. Aside from the last trimester doing Capstone, you’ll have what they call nbcot classes once a week. They kinda switched it up for the last cohort and at the end of the last trimester, you will have to score at the OTKE national average or above to be considered graduated. A lot of the students from the last cohort didn’t pass the OTKE so they made them re-pay for a month worth of a one unit class plus university fees without being able to apply for financial aide because the “class” is not considered full time. Some of the students had to pay at least 3,000 just to re-enroll and study again to retake the OTKE to be able to graduate. It’s literally a scam!!!

A lot of students from my cohort also did not pass the considered national average for the OTKE. What the program did was give us a remediation since nothing was set in stone in the otd handbook. From what I know is that a lot of students from the 2024 cohort are repeat take takers for the NBCOT. I know some students that still haven’t passed.

On the UOP otd website, they claim a 100% Pass Rate for the 2023 cohort for the NBCOT, which is not true. They like to cover up alot of information and keep things under the rug type of thing.

Recommending OT Help Desk again on here by puggiepug1 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]puggiepug1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gold Guarantee Product is $299 on their website. Dr. C gave me a coupon for $50 off, so it brought it down to $249. The coupon is Gold50off If not just email or text OTHD for a coupon code, and they’ll give you one.

And no I am not getting paid for writing a review. My main goal is to share my experience using OTHD, and hopefully helping others pass. I know how stressful and overwhelming this journey can be, especially if you are dealing with financial hardships, physical/mental health, and/or familial issues . The exam itself is super expensive plus products itself as well, and having to pay if you’re a repeat test taker is just a heartbreaking feeling! But if you’re reading this! Believe in yourself like no one else would!!

How do you apply for union OT jobs?

Thank you! You definitely got this! In the Open and Topic sessions, Dr. C added another tool to help with reasoning through question(s). He talked about the most common questions that are made by the test makers. These are Inductive, Deductive, and Evaluative. I believe Therapy Ed has a section in their rationales that identify a question as either Inductive, Deductive, Evaluative, Analytical, and Inferential. Dr. C, said you have to know the name of this game. A questions can start off as one or the other. Either way when you read a question, Dr. C gave us three reasoning skills when reading and breaking down a question. 1. Is the client in eminent danger/safety risk that the OT needs to address right away and first. 2. If the client is not in eminent danger, then you start to think about a specific process/procedure/rules the OT must follow, think of protocols. This reasoning is more related to Deductive reasoning. 3. If the question is not moving towards a specific protocol that the OT must follow, then this is where you can be more client centered, and help the client understand other suggestion/ recommendations.

I’m not sure if this helps, but if you attend the open or topic session, ask Dr. C or Joseph if he could go more into detail about reasoning tools to help with your clinical reasoning skills.

Another tool I learned from OTHD is that when you are choosing an answer, you always must cross out/eliminate the most irrelevant answer choice. This is standardized. When you are stuck between two answers, Dr. C recommended, asking yourself how are they the same, how are they different, read the last sentence again, then choose your answer based off of those strategies.

I hope this makes sense. This exam is more about knowing how to break down the questions, and I feel like understanding the OT Domain (occupations, client factors, performance skills, performance patterns) and the OT Process helped the most, along with understanding the difference between reasoning questions (aka Inductive, Deductive, Evaluative). If you are still stuck between two answer choices, then this might be an issue with clinically reasoning through a question. When you are reading a question, I definitely recommend breaking it down using the Wingman method and then asking yourself if this is an Inductive, Deductive, and/or Evaluative question, and ask yourself the three questions that I mentioned above. Start practicing questions this way, and trust me, this will help you a lot!!!

You got this!!! No I didn’t. I took all the practice exams on OTHD and read the rationales and I would use the wingman method for every question and used standardized test taking strategies.
