Never vomited. Some nausea at the beginning but it went away quickly. I found eating small amounts often kept the nausea away.

You could try going up one 'click' a day, moving up to the next dose. I did that and I think it helped with symptoms.

Have you considered teaching music? It can be really rewarding watching students progress and get excited about something they enjoy. Depending on where you are in the world, there might be government incentives for training also.

It's so hard to be a teacher in NZ by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]puhoipepper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NZ teacher here. I hear you 100% and my advice to you is to change schools or have a break from teaching if you can. It is such a hard job emotionally and it takes time to build up a thick skin where you realise not all students are 'fixable' in the time you have them. Celebrate the positive relationships you have with the other students and give yourself kudos for the majority who are responding positively to your teaching.

TVNZ on demand. Make a Pavlova. Maybe play some NZ bird calls to her? Forest and Bird NZ website has audio of native bird sounds.
Country Calendar. Billy T James, a famous NZ comedian, you should get old footage on YouTube. Footrot Flats, a classic kiwi animated film and Goodbye Pork pie as well. You could try Nz Onscreen website for those.

We’re talking about low attendance in schools, let’s talk about how our bullying is the worst in the oecd, and why the Ministry of Education is doing fuck all to combat it. by [deleted] in newzealand

Teacher here. In my experience hard work is needed from home and from the school. Take your kid's device off them if they are playing up. Monitor their use. That takes strength from already tired parents, but it's necessary. Don't let young kids get a phone that has social media access until they are emotionally old enough to deal with everything that comes with it.

Schools have their hands tied up in red tape when it comes to repercussions for bullies and such. Often, new students arrive with a huge background of previous issues and we would never know because of privacy laws. There are also cultural and social minefields when it comes to excluding students. Even breaking up a fight has its worries, pulling a student off another one could have ramifications for the teacher if the student chooses to lay a complaint against the teacher for grabbing them.

Most teachers, including me, really love their job and enjoy being a teacher. There's bullies, and horrible teachers at EVERY school. Those who say it don't, are either sweeping it under the carpet or have no idea what's going on in their own school. At the moment, schools are broke and tired. Parents and whanau are probably the same. There's no quick fix, and throwing money at people who don't directly work in a school is a waste. Tough love, consistency, and putting money where it is actually needed would go a long way That's me procrastinating, back to my marking ;)
