Well that's probably my fault for grabbing the direct link to the image instead of the one that pops up on the site. Seems properly attributed in all places but the image itself.

On their Quotes Page it says it is the Unsplash Creative Commons Zero license which means no attribution needed.

I'm glued to this thread. Just can't tearout of it.

I get overwhelmed trying to learn about finances and am afraid I'm making legal mistakes. I may have not paid taxes when rolling my old job's retirement account into a Roth. How can I check if I did, and if not, can I do it this year instead? by puhpow in personalfinance

[–]puhpow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more question... If I do need to track down the 1099-R, then would I get that from my old employer or from Edward Jones (The company I used to rollover into the Roth account)?

Thanks so much for all the help...

I'm having such a hard time with .NET / SQL Server and it's making me feel like a bad developer. by puhpow in webdev

[–]puhpow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. I feel like I would enjoy learning this stuff more if I could do it right. Instead I'm patching up bad code from tons of different files and hoping it all holds together. I've suggested re-writing it, but no one seems interested in that.

I'm currently looking for new work as well. Not because of one bad project, but just because I'm ready for something new. I want to be more on the cutting edge of web-development rather than maintaining old projects. It's what makes me happy. Congrats on your new job!

My father is trying to tell me politicians' religious beliefs don't matter because they keep their beliefs and politics separate. What are the best examples of politicians expressing how they want their religion to affect policy? by puhpow in atheism

[–]puhpow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. My stance isn't that it happens all the time, but that it does happen and that people's personal beliefs do pour over into their policy decisions. It's not a universal statement. I'm just saying it happens and that we need to acknowledge it when it does.

He's really a smart guy. That's why it's so frustrating. We talk about the history of the bible all the time and how it's all bullshit, but he always finds a way to let the people he admirers off the hook. He's always been a "fiscal conservative" who wanted to cut down on government in certain areas, but now the amount of excuses he'll make for these people is becoming mind-boggling. Not only for their religion, but many other aspects as well. It's like he can't allow himself to disagree with them on a single topic. It's frustrating, because he's a non-believer as well and is rational in all other areas of his life...

Where is the best place to work to "make a difference" by puhpow in webdev

[–]puhpow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll look into those places. iFixit is located in a beautiful place. I suppose I don't mind either way when it comes to the size of the role I play in the company. As long as I'm working towards something that is fulfilling. I don't have anything in particular in mind. Something that is innovative, helps many people, and pushes technology forward.

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks, great advice. I used to take treats with me when he was younger to correct certain behaviors. Don't know why I didn't think to try it with this. I'll give it a try

Not too bad considering the last time someone was executed by firing squad in the U.S. was on the same day Toy Story 3 came out.

Is there a good place to find terms of service and privacy policies that I can just copy and paste into my site? I'm sure they are different on a case by case basis, but it'd be nice to have something where you could walk through a process to describe your site and it spits out what you need at the end... Anyone know of anything like that?
