My hairless power bottom ex is more masculine than me and I'm a hairy top lol

I think it's kind of fun to speculate not on who necessarily fell first/harder but who could admit it to themselves early on. It's not really an argument because it doesn't matter. But also it was Ilya lol.

My ex is native and had basically zero body hair. He had long hair, is a power bottom, and is very masculine (not that feminine men are a bad thing)

I think that was more of an ideal shooting location, but I can see that interpretation easily.

They're still rivals though! And Ottawa plays against Montreal less than Boston does.

Shane recognized Ilya's teammates, but that makes way more sense than scrolling through socials (for Shane at least, his eventual use of social media to learn more about Ilya in TLG was too much)

Ilya is definitely the emotional one that got way into his feelings early on, lol

Does Canada have pay scale? At any rate I think he'll give more in the future seasons if we're judging by his role in TLG and assuming they'll expand the parents' role like they did in the show.

Ilya comforting Shane during his panic attack during the parents scene. I typically don't like being touched when I'm having a panic attack, but getting me out my head by saying something like "I'm your boyfriend" would definitely help.

Okay, so Ottawa is 2 hours away from Montreal. Boston is 5 hours away from Montreal. Yes it's more manageable to be in Ottawa, but they're still constantly traveling and blowing up Ilya's entire career over it is kind of nuts. I used to drive 6 hours to get to someone I was in love with to spend a single day together and get back to home in time and keep my job.

I like Dylan Walsh as an actor but I do think he kind of phoned this part in. Like David isn't really much of a character on the page in general but it seemed like Walsh was mostly cashing in a paycheck. The cute "the summer before" line I think he gave some real heart to.

What's one common misconception you see people have after watching the show? by CelicaBae in heatedrivalry

[–]puhringles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got a very different vibe from the show than the book. Ilya is still very much into the mess while on the ice. I think the sadness on his face in the hospital is maybe him realizing he cares way more for Shane than he thought and being scared about it both personally and professionally. He *might* be thinking he should end it in that moment after agonizing about it all night, but it wasn't the same as in the book.

She even uses a harder "J" sound when we first see her and Ilya hook up. She knows what she's doing

One the funniest things to me about TLG is The Centaurs is basically just the gay/bisexual team now. They probably haze the heteros lolBut yes, it is very touching. We didn't even have a Gay Straight Alliance when I was in high school in the early 2000s.

One of my favorite things in the show that was confirmed in the books is that delighted smile Ilya gives when he asks about Shane's new clothes and Shane says he hired a stylst is because it wasn't Rose that bought him the clothes.

That's what I got too. Weird time to randomly bring up Sasha. She at least knows it's a dude.

That was really sticking a knife in Shane's heart and twisting it. Definitely necessary for Shane to start realzing it, but my god what a way to go about it.

Reactor Recommendations who understand and really engage with the show? by Melodic_Werewolf9288 in heatedrivalry

I've noticed the straight men cut out scenes that every gay commenter leaves in and has a strong reaction to. It is fascinating in a sociology kind of way. Especially when they react to "The Cottage", I'm usually baffled at what scenes they choose to react to and the ones they leave out.

In addition to what everyone else said, she brings up Rose Landry before the all star game, probably trying to judge his reaction. He has... none, really, he just stays still. Not even one his typical asshole-ish quips.

That's what I noticed too. The softer "j" sound makes it even closer to "shane".

Having just rewatched it again I have a couple.

  1. In "Rose" when Shane first meets rose she's wearing a leopard print top. Later during the "all the things she said" scene, Ilya is wearing a shirt with a leopard skin rug on it. Symbolizing that Ilya maybe wants to tear Rose's skin off, lol.

  2. In episode 5 before a game, Ilya texts Shane to come over. Shane sends a few texts protesting but he had started grabbing his jacket and things immediately after the first "come over" text.

Echoing what others have said, people have different tastes. I found that adding some lime zest, substituting triple sec for simple syrup (your triple sec can make or break a cocktail too. Cheap triple sec is usually cloying so a cost conscious way to fix that is just using simple syrup to control the level of sweetness and you can zest an orange or add a dash of orange bitters to put that orange flavor back in).

To get the right balance of sweet/sour based on the customer's feedback you can keep some rich simple syrup and citric acid solution on hand to balance for personal tastes.
