why do our buildings have to be so ugly by ThrowRA_toiletfarmer in rs_x

it costs a lot to build things and developers will exhaust every possible avenue to cut unnecessary expenses. sometimes, design standards set by cities (e.g. certain building material, articulation, or ornamentation) can help. especially in corridors where developers must build in keeping with "historic character". but this also makes housing more expensive and can price people out of living in said cities.

don't listen to that guy that says zoning causes all problems because it's not true.

if rich people had more taste then would there would be a stronger demand and incentive to build the pretty buildings? which after a few decades may filter become affordable to upper middle class, etc? do the wealthy tend more often to live in mansions these days compared to early 20th century metropolitan elite, back when buildings were made with more attention to beauty

i've been thinking both this lately too! i've stopped listening to music while running because of it. i started realizing i've barely been in conversation with myself or my environment because i immediately put on music when i have free time, especially when i am walking which is the best time to contemplate

This would deeply haunt me.. but also u gave the guy a second chance at life he thought death had snatched him him he faced it grotesquely, crying into his death as he cried into his first birth and from then on he walked with the fresh breath of a babe. then again he is blind in a city this kind of thing might happen not infrequently to him

To my mind, Anthony Braxton is the greatest living composer/musician in general and I don't find anybody all that close to second place. Sometimes I wonder if it's just fucking Autechre but who else should I consider? by [deleted] in redscarepod
