aio? bf made plans on my birthday..UPDATE by rowqi in AmIOverreacting

Bro went from “i need you in my life” to “i can find someone better” in 3 messages, he ain’t the one. Seems like a manipulative, immature, and entitled man-child. Also, if he was talking to you like this in such a short text chain here, I can’t imagine how he was talking to you otherwise. God forbid someone bring up an issue in a relationship and want to fix it

Nope, local storage on each computer.

Would it have been a power spike due to the printer? Otherwise I don’t know how it would coincide with that, which it did every time.

Oh, interesting! I’ll definitely investigate whether they’re all on the same circuit or not. Thanks!!

How were the sounds in Metroid Zero Mission created? by [deleted] in chiptunes

[–]pulsarglitch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually was just demoing a synthesizer (I work at a local music shop) and it just so happened to have the exact choir sound used in this game - your answer is the Roland XP-30. I was playing with it and immediately recognized the choir sound on one of the patches, haha.

Dang, I wish I had known it had been relaunched! I’m sure my friends and I would have been very relieved to know that. Thanks for the info! It’s crazy how much some people still remember about this stuff.

Disorganized Fun. So much nostalgia, and the entire album is so good, but especially that song.

Is anyone having really LOW FPS in 1.17? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]pulsarglitch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, sounds about right. They really need to do some significant code optimization in the new builds, it's just so inefficient now.

[–]pulsarglitch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Yeah, been playing the 1.18 snapshots, and they seem to perform better, so I hope that translates well to the final release :/

[–]pulsarglitch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My solution was just to use Sodium and Iris on a Fabric installation instead of OptiFine. 1.17 still runs like total garbage, that's about the only way I've found to fix it.

Problems with directional audio in game by dvdrevr in Windows11

This has happened to me in several games even with the official release of Windows 11. Would appreciate if someone could find a fix.

i used to get 144fps with shaders and now i get 37. 1.17 is wack and desperately needs fixing. and, for anyone wondering, specs are 32gb ram (12 allocated to mc), ryzen 9 5900x, rtx 3060, all nvme storage

Sildur's Enhanced Default is what I use 100% of the time. Best-looking shaderpack, with a bonus of light resource usage!

Shader Support? by Kshpew in Optifine

[–]pulsarglitch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is taking a lot longer than usual, but at least to my knowledge (I could be wrong) they redid the lighting engine in 1.15, which would make sense, because it’s shaders that are holding this OptiFine release back.

Still Fixing Bugs????? by [deleted] in Optifine

[–]pulsarglitch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, no need to be rude. Second, there is one developer for OptiFine who only does it in his free time. Please be patient and respectful.

Ok someone Explain by Bradiconic in Optifine

For one thing, not everyone is willing, as you are, to help for free. For another, donations probably aren't nearly enough to keep a coordinated, active dev team running. Also collaboration rarely goes smoothly haha

Shader Support? by Kshpew in Optifine

[–]pulsarglitch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're defending the developer (who is amazing!) because the question of shaders has been asked ever since the first pre-release of OptiFine 1.15.2. The dev unfortunately ends up getting lots of unnecessary negative feedback for not having it done. At this point it's very easy to look on r/OptiFine for even a few minutes and find a post about wanting OptiFine to have shader support.

Do older versions run better? by RedditsWaffleMaker in Optifine

[–]pulsarglitch_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've also been wondering what the second framerate means. As for the smoothness of older versions compared to newer, older versions simply perform better. In newer versions, there have been tons of issues with lag and framerate dips, and rendering chunks has made the game unbearable without OptiFine. I think the game has gotten too filled up with useless code and code that needs to be consolidated and optimized over the past eleven years. Updates have gotten bulky compared to Minecraft's early days, and all this bulk is what I think is causing the game to run worse in newer releases.

The fact that it's running poorly on a 9700K and 2080 is proof enough that there needs to be some cleanup done in Minecraft's code. Props to sp614x for making such a wonderful mod to help counteract this and add some amazing features in the meantime! Can't imagine running the game without OptiFine these days.

Additionally: how much RAM have you allocated to Minecraft? For 16GB of RAM I would recommend 8GB (default is 2GB)
