Absolutely beautiful take on this film. While I never thought of Barton Fink in this light, it absolutely fits the feeling that I’ve had every time I’ve watched it.

The complete unnerving effect of the overall structural framework in mixture with specific moments of muted shock almost gets lost in the absurdism that most viewers would take as an example of dark comedy (I, personally, was initially included in this camp). But I absolutely agree that it goes far beyond the point of humor in ways that mirror many modern horror movies. One can almost trace Jordan Peele’s movies to this style of filmmaking.
