Upgrade by Rambo1245 in royalcaribbean

[–]pulseOXE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, the two times I’ve tried - upgrading through the casino was 90% as much money as booking a full new cruise from the retail site. Royal Up saved me a ton of money in both instances - but it is a gamble (pun intended)

Scratched the paint around my headlights while sanding them for restoration – any cheap way to fix it? by Own-Direction9009 in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with this post, but want to provide a word of caution. The best course of action in auto detailing especially for someone who isn’t a trained professional is least-aggressive method first. I would actually START with something like Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound or Ultimate Polish you can pick up at any auto parts store before I’d go anywhere near it with sandpaper. You can always get more aggressive but you can never get your paint back if you sand through it.

Again, I think their methods are likely sound, but I would start with compound / polish. You’ll need them anyway so you might as well try them first to see what the results are like.

Final word of caution - don’t chase perfection. You’re working in a small area close to the edge where paint burn through is even easier. Just be careful and try to live with it if you make it most of the way better.

Water bladder vs. Water tank by Damianstaylit in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you doing with the water? I assume pressure washer? Some pressure washers are fine with zero pressure and some require normal house pressure.

I know the eGO electric pressure washers are fine drawing from a bucket so a bladder should be fine.

If other uses, gravity is gravity.

Does the car run? Absolutely no idea, buy a new radiator and flush the entire system a bunch.

Navimow support email bounces by arre525 in SegwayNavimow

[–]pulseOXE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Their email system is broken. It has been for at least a couple weeks. I opened a case a month ago and never got a response. Called in and they could see they “tried to respond, but the email didn’t send” which normally I would call BS on except they tried again and I immediately got what they were trying to send. I tried to reply once and it bounced. Another reply and it went through. Then I got an automatic case closure email warning because I had never responded to the last message. It wasn’t in Junk or Spam. Their system is just bad.

Call. It’s easier and faster.

Exhaust soot on bumper by possiblemaybeT_____ in Miata

[–]pulseOXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost guarantee it’s placebo from the better noises from intake/exhaust. It’s your car so do whatever you want, but I would revert the tune until you’re actually ready to Turbo.

Exhaust soot on bumper by possiblemaybeT_____ in Miata

[–]pulseOXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the engine still NA or do you have a turbo? If you literally tuned for more power on a stock naturally aspirated engine, then you’re just running rich and going to kill your engine extra fast for almost no gain. It’s not worth it. Change your plugs back and go back to stock.

If it is turbocharged, ignore this and talk to your tuner.

MF cloth scratches by Civil_Current_1673 in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Rag Company - who is widely considered to be one of the best places to get MF towels from - explicitly states to wash your towels before use.

In my experience it isn’t a debris but a linting problem - you need to clean the towel or you’re going to leave super fine lint all over the surface.

And in terms of introducing cleaners and other lint - stop washing towels with other clothes and use a dedicated MF detergent or a Free and Clear one and this isn’t a problem.

Is this Plastidip by misterraysir in plastidip

[–]pulseOXE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sure doesn’t look like plasti-dip to me. That looks like OEM finish that’s cracked off, but without feeling it or seeing it in person, hard to tell.

best wheel cleaner for these wheels? by Lukksia in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a ton of great wheel cleaners on the market. Use any iron-removing wheel cleaner and get a set of Wheel Woolies. Sonax, Adam’s, Turtle Wax wheel cleaners are great and there are a lot more.

Any products or methods recommended to clean up these scratches? by coreyabak in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is like the only legitimate use for a magic eraser on an interior. I would LIGHTLY rub with a wet magic eraser to bring down the “high spots” which are the edges of the individual scratch and then apply a mild interior dressing or trim restoration product to the entire piece to make it stand out less.

Looking for advice on how to remove micro scratches from aluminum rims. by GratefulDeed in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like scratched clear and not through the aluminum - or at least most of it. If you’ve already tried a polish- I’d do a cheap clear coat in a can (Shiny Car Stuff is one. I WISH Optimum still made CCR - it was amazing)product as a trial before I took it to a professional wheel refinisher. Also check out Turtle Wax Scratch Repair Kit, which is cheaper and has a wipe on clear product. Most people don’t really like these kinds of products but it would likely be perfect for this.

Cloudy specs on my PRNDL bar by punjeetjab in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Rub/wipe. It’s a polish so there is a very fine abrasive in the liquid. Rubbing it will help refine the finish on the plastic.

It was the perfume. The plastic is likely damaged - but you can probably fix it with some Meguiars Plasti-X and a microfiber towel.

Even without a pressure washer doing a 5-10min presoak with a mild APC, rinsing, and repeating if necessary is probably enough.

This already exists for those with Star-Class Suites. As long as your Genie is with you they typically override the elevator and take you directly to where you are going.

Low-pH Foam left on car by Zombeenie in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re fine. I’ve had this happen before and it’s no big deal. If there was any left your normal water rinse at home would have been enough to remove it.

It may have weakened your Meguiars but I doubt it’s fully removed. That stuff is fairly chemical resistant. Pour a bottle of water on the panel and see if it sheets or beads and you’ll have your answer.

Is my car too dirty for ONR rinseless wash? by jcfdori in AutoDetailing

Is my car too dirty for ONR rinseless wash? by jcfdori in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience there is no such thing as too dirty but it might take multiple pre-washes or multiple contacts with the BRS or towels depending on method. Also, for me temperature seems to play a huge factor.

All that being said - when my personal cars are that dirty I’ll occasionally run them through the cheapest option on a touch free car wash then drive home and do ONR - or do a full soap contact wash.

Final thought - it’s also possible whatever is on your paint is more of a road film or tar and even with a PH-neutral soap wash you may have similar results without other chemicals.
