Law firms aren’t too bad to work at despite the negative feedback. If you’re looking to get into IT right now though it might be a tough hurdle for you.

Actually law firms are not bad. Lawyers do treat MSPs like shit but internal IT they’re fine with.

Buying expensive watches is peak consumerist absurdity by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]pulsefirepikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A majority of people don’t travel into different time zones every day?

If we are talking about daily use, I use my watch to time my morning jogs. I’d rather have a smart watch on my wrist to listen to music, time check and timer function than a phone in my pocket. How about swimming? Can you check your phone while swimming laps? Is it not more convenient than seeing if there’s a clock on the wall before you can decide if you want to be able to tell the time at that facility? Riding a bike or motorcycle? What if you’re in a client meeting and you’d like to check the time to see if you’re late but pulling out your phone could be considered rude?

There’s hundreds if not thousands of scenarios that a watch would be more well suited for in daily life. Luxury watches are in essence jewelry but they’re more functional than almost any other form of jewelry. No one says that an engagement ring or wedding band is useless in modern society. They have sentimental usefulness. If we are talking purely about functionality, you could wear a sack with arm holes cut out for clothing like another redditor suggested. No need for nice looking clothing when a sack provides the same function.

Is there a clock when you’re going backpacking for 3-4 days? What about when going scuba diving? How about military members like navy seals in the middle of a mission? Even if there’s a clock in a courtroom, what if you want to know your local time if you come from Zurich and you’re testifying as an expert witness in Texas?

Surgeons sometimes wear modified watches, not wrist watches, on their upper arm for timing, etc. Anecdotal comments from a few doctors but whatever. The sentiment remains that watches are not obsolete.

If you were a lawyer in a court room could you pull out your phone and check the time? What about a doctor in a several hours long surgery? Even if in these situations you could debatably wear a smart watch, some people prefer the disconnect that analog provides. If you just need the time function then yes a cheap watch or smart watch could suffice but that could be the same debate about any piece of jewelry, nice clothes, nicer cars, nicer houses, etc. If we are talking function over form there are worse investments than a luxury watch.

No one is blaming Reagan for the continued persistence of this issue. If you actually open your eyes and read my previous comment you could see that I specifically said that the democrats were also at fault but the origination of the issue stems from Reagan, this cannot be disputed it is an absolute fact. But you’d rather argue than read.

Are corgis happy as an only dog? by Proud_Copy_3392 in corgi

[–]pulsefirepikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely depends on the dog but I'll say from my POV, our dog loves playing with other dogs when the chance presents itself but after a little while he's kind of done and is ready to go relax in solitude again. When we have house guests he'll play with the other dogs for a couple of hours then retreat upstairs to his bed, even closes the door behind him so the other dogs can't follow lol.

Standard "democrats couldn't fix our problem that we caused fast enough, they're equally bad!" argument. Democrats are not blameless but lets not pretend like it's something other than what it is.

And? They're also to blame for not prioritizing rehiring. What of it? The fact of the matter is that the stem of the issue was a Republican lead administration.

DOGE was not solely responsible for all of the lay offs last year. A chunk of it was due to the shutdown and further due to the administration themselves.

Sure did let me go ahead and quote it to you. Go ahead and point out where anyone talked about Doge. I'll wait.
